Harley Davidson owners would be flabbergasted at what I see coming in at US Customs in the Port of LA.Yeah I loved working on my Harley today and seeing made in Mexico on the wiring harness and other parts.

maybe someday we can export liberalism there to kill their economy as well!slantsixdan said:the poor, carefully trained by the wealthy, will babble and scream so loudly about bootstraps and liberals and socialism and godless communism and whatnot that nothing will change except the wealthy get wealthier and the poor get poorer and more numerous.
you get tired of jumping through government regulations, leagal minefields, and political activism just to face a lazy, entitled labor pool (…) Someday this all will pan out, Chinese people will gain more and more standards of living

I'm just jealous of you in Canada. The USA has fallen terribly when it comes to freedom especially economic freedom over the last 10 years. We aren't even in the top 10 anymore. Canada is the land of the free in North America now.
Yet our dollar is kicking their dollar's *** in exchange rates....
So very true. The idea of a HD because its an "American" bike is silly at this point. I mean HD is steady moving away form skilled workers in favor of part-timers that only work during busy seasons...funny thing neither the bikes or parts have gotten any cheaper.

I'm just glad /6 Dan is back online. Its been a long time. Either that or I have missing something. Probably the later.

Naw, I cut way back on my posting. I barely ever migrate beyond Ulf's build thread and the occasional parts-for-sale ad these days. The bills ain't gonna pay themselves, so I gotta work!
Except for an occasional slashing of the toolman's comments! LOL
Wasn't this a thread about oil filters?
how about K and N filters?
But the accessories and clothes and stuff, now that's a different story. What they're marketing is this (image not work-safe, borrowed from this cartoon). But what they're selling is a huge lot of made-in-China jackets and hats and boots and patches and all kinds of other stuff.
No, it started out as a thread about where air filters are made.
Total scam, unless all you care about is keeping spiders, seashells, small children, and chunks of concrete out of your engine. Actual dust and dirt flies right through 'em. See here and here. (" After only 24 minutes the K&N had accumulated 221gms of dirt but passed 7.0gms. Compared to the AC, the K&N plugged up nearly 3 times faster, passed 18 times more dirt and captured 37% less dirt ")

Picked up a Wix air filter for my daily driver '91 Dodge the other day. The box is printed up with the usual verbiage about how Wix is a great premium-quality filter, etc. The filter is inkstamped "MADE IN CHINA".
Nope, I won't have it. I haven't checked where Wix oil filters come from lately; some years ago I switched to Fleetguard. I put in a call to Fleetguard (Cummins Filtration) and asked where their air filter for my car is made; answer came back "We make that filter in the United States". I shopped around for two minutes online, found a friendly price, and bought three of them to make the shipping worthwhile.
I'm not going to bother informing Wix they've lost a formerly loyal customer and evangelist; there's no point -- all I'd get back is scripted babble about quality assurance and ISO-certified facilities.
Sooner or later in a conversation like this, someone might say something like "Lots of good stuff comes from China. Iphones and Ipods and Macs are made in China." That's certainly true. What's also true is that there's rampant counterfeiting, corner-cutting, spec-ignoring, materials-cheapening, and all kinds of other cheating in Chinese manufacturing, especially in inexpensive, simple items that look pretty much alike from brand to brand. Like filters, for example. I want my engine to live a long and happy life, so no Chinese "filters" for me, thanks.
LOL I was just kidding! but K and N air filters do breath better.
