Called chrysler mfg. To verify if i have the large or small ball joint on my 1974 plymouth duster. I was not sure because i have disc brakes on mine and i've read disscusions on our website about this question. Well chrysler told me today from 1973 to 1976 all dusters produced used the big ball joint. So there's your answer right from the factory!!
Now the good news- on ebaymotors i purchased (2) upper controll arms with bushings and ball joints already installed for $161.18/shipped. The sale ends tomorrow but they will probably relist. Usually they relist more expensive though. If your interested here is the listing number on ebaymotors.com
(item# 200625226509) the companys name is wsd suspension.
They're kit number is #3722460-61. They have another kit that comes with new bolts for around $20 bucks more also. Just thought this might help some fellow members like me on a budget!!!!!

Are those parts from this country?

Not for that price i imagine, but what is made in america anymore? If it was a daily driver i could see buying the expensive ones. Thats a good question though. I will email them and ask. Or you could if your interested.

Tell ya what you pay the difference($400 bucks) and i'll buy the moog ones. It's not a daily driver. Best part is i'm a union pipefitter! Lol

I wasn't trying to knock the parts. I was simply asking the question. Lots of high quality parts come from overseas......likewise, lits of crappy ones come from the US.

I thought it was commom knowledge that starting in 1973 through 1976 all A-bodies use the same big ball joint upper control arms.

What about the base models with 9" drums that still retained the small bolt pattern through 1976? Did they also use the large control arm/ball joint combination?

Believe me if i could afford american made ones i'd diffently buy those but auto parts stores have such a high mark-up cause of there overhead i can't afford them. I travel all over country just to keep my insurance for the kids. I'm out of work now. So now you no why i'm buyin these parts.

Beware, I bought those from WSD for my '69 Swinger and the ball joints were metric and too long!

The confusion in the ball joints is in year model and dum brakes or disc brakes.
All 73 up WITH disc brakes have large bolt pattern and large ball joints.

I don't no but i'll give you the phone number that moog rep. Gave me this morning. I'd rather you call that way you can hear it first hand. I think this is it. (800-325-8886) give that a try

As a union pipefitter I would certainly think you would know the difference between junk metal and quality metal!

Moog - Control Arm Bushing Part # K408 Does both upper control arms $36.99 Box of 4

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...rd=ball+joint+&+components&pt=C0318&ppt=C0106

Moog - Ball Joint Part # K772 2 required at $24.99 per Box

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...rd=ball+joint+&+components&pt=C0317&ppt=C0106

$87.00 plus tax for good quality parts. It was $10.00 per control arm to have the Control Arm Bushings installed on my OEM American Mopar control arms. I think I paid $25 for the special socket to remove/replace the ball joints. Total cost under $140.00 counting tax and I still have the socket, OEM American made MOPAR control arms amd lifrtime warranty on the Moog parts.

The biggest reason I do only use the best parts I can find is the people that my get hurt or killed from inferrior parts lives are priceless.

Now if you want cheap upper ball joints they are only $13.99 each or 27.98 a pair with Lifetime Warranty. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...rd=ball+joint+&+components&pt=C0317&ppt=C0106

Now if you want cheap control arm bushings they are $14.99 Box of 4

Now tell me you would build a house without a foundation.

Poor quality parts and terrible fit. It is no different than most of the China made sheet metal was before AMD came along. Anyone remember this thread about aftermarket controls arms? I thought the picture that the original thread stater did was so funny. If you recall this is where the guy had the ball joint pop out of his import tubular upper control arm as he was driving down the road. Sometimes you pay for quality and still get junk but when you pay for junk you are very likely to get junk.

HMMM! Seems like most of the negative feedback has to do with old American Iron. I bet there are those that bought parts, left positive feedback to later figure out that the gloves don't fit (OJ Simpson Trial).

china ! hardware stripped . had to use my 48 year old bolts ! much better

as a union pipefitter you should be trying to buy everything you can thats made in america moog is about the best brand out there as far as suspention parts go its not that much differce in price to get quality parts or you can save a few bucks now and spend it again in 6 months or a year when it breaks or wears out if it even fit.as a union man you should be trying to keep your money here not send it to china.

Don't worry all my vehicles are built right here in america. I always shop that way when we buy new vehicles. They've moved all our car plants down south like tennesee, virginia. Etc. Were they have rat wages.lol. They just tour down our chrysler plant 1 mile from my house. It's all about money now. Cracks me up most of these people sayin buy american were'nt sayin that 5 years ago when they were buyin those jap cars. God bless america!!! Bring the jobs back.

And you are buying China made parts to help American Companies stay or come back here? When buying items I make it a point to buy every American made item I can find. It is all this Japan, Tawian, China and now India crap that people are buying that is letting our jobs go overseas and you are supporting it with this purchase. You could have bought MOOG Lifetime wattanty parts and had yours rebuilt by American workers cheaper than you paid for China parts. Anyone buying these China parts contibutes to the problem. You complain about being out of work now, just wait because it will get worse until Americans pull their heads out and start buying American products and services when possible. I am not even sure that all of the Moog parts are made here anymore.

Yea but thats just the bushings and ball joints. This comes with the controll arm.bushings and ball joints already on it. I don't have equipment to extract the bushings and ball joints. I'll bet i could find all kinds of things in your shop with the china logo on them. Did you watch that show where they left only american made items in their house. There was 3 things, that's it. The house was empty. Buy the way my 2010 chevy pickup was built 86% american in fort wayne, indiana. Wife's nitro was built 78% american in detroit. There is nothing 100% american made anymore. Buy the way do you sell parts in that shop. I work all over the country so maybe i'll stop buy one day if i'm workin in your area. Hope you have a better day tomorrow bud. See ya okky.

I will bet that you can't find 10 things in my shop with a China markings on it. My Rotoray car lift was made in the USA, My WYNN transflusrer USA, My Gray transmission air over hydraulic USA, Coats tire machines x 3 USA, Coats tire balancers x 2 USA, SnapOn racing tire balancer USA, Gray Truck Bumper jack USA, Antifreeze recycle machine USA, Air compressor USA and all hand tools USA.

What I do have that is China made is a gas tank/rear end lift made by Torrison that leaks, two support stands that are pretty good, 8 ton Ram on USA made Cherry Picker . That makes 4 items made in China.

american companies are few and far between we should all try our best to buy from them to try to keep them here along with the few american jobs we have left. i know what its like to travel the country for work im a union carpenter and your rite the unions arent what they were its sad when i go to a tool room on a job to get a tool and they hand me some cheap jap junk these are union companies that are getting this stuff.i know im getting off the subject so as for the control arms your factory arms are much better than anything made today its not hard to change the ball joints you can buy a used snap on ball joint socket on ebay for about $20-$25. bucks and there made in the u s a and the bushings can be replaced with a shop vice a hammer and a piece of pipe im sure you arready have that lying around in your garage and you get the enjoyment of doing it yourself and it gives you something to do while your unemployed.
