hi all, i've got a 72 dart with a stripped out strut rod. can someone tell me the difference between a 73 rod and a 72 ? thanks, dave.

The lenght is different.
I have a set for a 73 if you need to go that way.

well, i've got a 72 dart parts car also thats kind of a frankenstein. i bought it for parts for my driver and it was made with a 318, but had a 81 slant six in it when i bought it. it also has a spool mount k member and that tells me it's a 73 up, but it also still has the original upper arms and 10'' drum brakes on it. so i dont have a clue what all they changed. i wonder if i can use the 73 rod and lower control arm?

The overall length is the same between the two, the difference is on the bushing end. The 73-up struts use thicker bushings than the 72-older struts. They are interchangable as long as the correct bushings and sleeves are used.

the 73 up use the coarse thread, whereas the earlier cars use the fine thread ends. I think the length is really close. I think the main thing is use the same style rods on both sides, Lawrence

thanks for the help fellas, i was hoping i could use the other rod. one more thing, the strut bushings on my driver has the washers with the cup towards the bushing, where the parts car has cup facing away. it's clearly marked this side to rubber, so i know the're in right. did the 73 up bushings change the direction of the washers, or has somebody down the line put my driver's in backward? dave.

ok question the strut rod is that the rod that goes from the lower control arm to the K frame forward? if it is i need both for my 1970 340 duster i busted them today :(

I have them all with hardware. coarse threaD are 73 and up and They take the two piece bushing set. They can be interchange but must be used with the correct year bushings. The bushing follows the strut rod no matter what year car you install them on.

I have a pair if you still need them and can't find them closer.
Thanks, Mark

well, took the strut rods out of my parts car today and they was the 72 style. i guess they just swapped out the k member only. ordered the right bushings so now i can get the car back on the road. thanks for all the replys. dave.
