Fall Fling XVII – October 20, 2012
The Fall Fling is an all Mopar Car Show and Shine event. Fall Fling is a relaxed non-judged affair that is open to all Mopars and AMC’s.
There will be about 350 Mopars, 175 swappers, and a manufactures midway area displayed entirely on a shaded tree adorned grass-covered park. Mopar show cars and spectators from all over the western United States and Canada take the yearly trek to Fall Fling. On Friday morning before Fall Fling there is a Cruise from Woodley Park to Malibu for lunch by the Pacific Ocean. Event will be rain or shine. Be sure to check with the cpwclub.com site for up to the minute weather conditions leading up to the show. Last year while we had a fair amount of rain overnight, the park had clear blue skies and the grass was surprisingly dry at 7:00AM. It was a great show day.

I was wondering when someone was going to post on this event, I will be there! Unfortunately, I will not be bringing my Duster as it is completely torn down but I am excited to scope out the swap and sweet Mopars!

Anyone in the Lemoore/Hanford greater area going and want driving company and someone to share gas costs? I want to go, but my car is getting a new interior and the rest of the family is not interested in going.

Let me know if you are going for the day and don't mind a 42 year old Mopar Newbie tagging along.

Thanks,

Jason

Car Pooling is a great idea.

Fall Fling will be a great oppurtunity to find deals on parts for your new project.

I've heard people with cars in the show say, "all the parts I built this car with basically came from the Spring and Fall Fling shows"

This is what I bought last show to put on my Mopars:

I'm trying my best to make it down there this weekend. The wife has a nursing convention in the LA area so I'm going to try to do my thing while she does her. I would totally be willing to take a fabo brother but we are probably going to try to stay down there for several days. I hope I can swing it. What's the biggest day? I assume Saturday but I might leave my house in Vacaville Thursday night. Might have to take the cummins since diesel seems to be cheaper than regular!? Plus ill have the bed to load up with a ton of chit!!! How's the swap meet, pretty big and bad ***?

Got my swap space paid for. Will have quite a few A-body parts plus a full set of 73-74 E-body seats. Should hit the road early Saturday morning (or late Friday night).

Having never been to the show in Van Nuys, here was my plan.

Go to bed relatively early and wake up Saturday morning good and early. Make the 3 hour drive, and get to the show between 9:00 am and 10:00 am.

But for those of you who have been going to this before, is that too late? I was talking to someone saying they are planning to get in line to get in starting at 4:00 am. Will I miss all the swap meet if I don't get there until 9:00ish?

Any thoughts or info is appreciated,

Jason

If you looking for the killer deals in the swap meet 9:00am might be a little late.
If your just coming down to enjoy the day it's a great time to show up between 9-10am and you still may find a deal in the swap meet.

They line them up early but they don't start letting people in till about 7:00am

Booked the room so we are Rollin baby!!!! Looking forward to meeting some fabo guys.

The Fall Fling show and swap is Saturday only.

First swap meeter is let in at 7:00am. The swap line should be all let in by 8:00 am. It is very advised for swap meet sellers to get in line by 6:30am. There will be swappers in line before 6:00 am.

The Fall Fling swap is probably the second biggest all Mopar swap meet west of the Mississippi. First biggest is Spring Fling. Even the Fall Fling swap meet is bigger than the swap meet section of the Las Vegas Mopars at the Strip show.

We have about 150 swap spots at Fall Fling.

I agree.

And be warned, swappers start leaving at 1:00 pm. And a lot will be gone by 2-2:30 pm. By 3:30 pm there are stragglers left.

Even though you might miss out on some items, highest prices are in the morning. Some of these guys are Really Proud of their parts. I like to swoop in on parts later on when the prices drop. Nobody wants to load their stuff back in the truck. 9am is not to late at all.

I think Johnny's advice is very good and honest.

I have to be carefull because I'll get the greif of someone that drove 6 hours and shows up a 12 pm and some swappers are allready packing up.

1jstrong, what parts are you looking for? Any new repro stuff too?
