i have a free edelbrock performer it says 318/360 on the top. Is that a good intake? its for my 340 the price is right but I wont use it if its a POS

For the price.......not bad. Small ports, but would be ok for a mild driver. You will leave some Tq & Hp on the table though.

Best all around......Perfomer RPM.

What he said, though the air gap version is also good if you live/use the car in warm to hot weather mostly.

had stock intake on it, now its apart changing the cam and springs, i wanna change the intake while i have it apart. I was thinking i wanted an M1, car will be 4spd with 391 or 410 gear

ok give me your best carb, intake and cam combos, stock forged crank 72 340, has long tubes on it, will be 4sp with 391 or 410, street/strip. i dont really care about good street manners.

What heads are you using? Any port and polish work done to them?

fresh bone stock AAWJ, with whatever springs the cam i get needs, and probably roller rockers

i will take the intake off your hands just to put a 4 barrel on my 318 no race car but i have a 650.00 holley just sitting here ans a 484 lift cam would liven it up chit just sold a nice set of Js that were cut to 2.02/1.60 x heads thats what you want if u wanna move it up a few steps and the airgap or the rpm rhs or edlbrock heads its a tos i up off how fat your wallet is and what your purpose is trying to take mine to the edge of street /strip getting alotta good input here tho keep asking theres some very knolagable people on here that are more than willing to help you gl with your build even rhs irons will pick it up eddlebrock has room for growth you can cut them down the line dart brodex air woofers get real expensive but they are all right in my mind on the air gap or the rpm gl to yah

i do have a set of fresh 5.2 magnum heads, would these flow any better than the AAWJ's? also have roller rockers for the magnums. could some one direct me to a thread about LA/magnums i cannot seem to find one

just need a little advice here guys, i want to get parts ordered so i can get this baby back on the road. cam/ intake combos,,, i was leaning towards cam in the 250@50/ .515 ish range and an M1 single and 750 dp.. am i way off?? 4spd

From what I have seen from the Edelbrock RPM or Air-Gap, your not going to give up much HP if any over a single plane intake like the M1 on a mild street build. You are going to give up some if not a lot of down low to mid range torque and even high end going with a single plane over the RPM.

A race motor or high RPM screamer is another story though. Just depends on the intended use of the car. If this is a street or mostly street car that will not see much past 6K rpm I would stick with a dual plane.

i wish Dulcich or someone would test a bunch of these once and for all.
i'm thinking on a warm small block there might not be much difference.
... the LD340 has some history if it matters to you.

he did

i was thinking the air gap, rpm, LD340, Action plus and maybee the old Offy on a warm sm blk (350 hp)
would a magazine publish the rpm or LD340 outperforming the newer air gap?

I think he means what is for sale right NOW, not what you can no longer buy new since the advertisers would not be too pleased

My favorite intake is the dual quad small port intake..offy made a few large port dual quads but hard to find today. The dual Carters idle great and with both secondary air doors removed it has more kick then the single 750 Holley DP it used to have on an RPM non air gap... but those aren't easy to find either and sure isn't cheap to set up right

But I never did dyno tests..
