Anybody else see them? They talk all this religious talk and then wish harm on people....if that does not fit the definition of a hypocrite what does??

Kind of like God and the 10 commandments? When he tells Moses, Thou shall not kill...............Now go on up north and kill every one you see and take there land.

Not looking to start a war, just asking a simple question. Probably out of frustration but still just a simple question.....

People are still people with feelings regardless of their religious beliefs. We are ALL screwed up in one way or the other.

its no different than the tree huggers that chain themselves to the forest and then get in their carbon monoxide belching VW vans and drive home to their houses by the freeway.

Nobody can live to the letter of the law which is the 10 Commandments. That is why Jesus came and died/rose again for all so we are not bound by the law which nobody can follow. If you break one commandment you broke them all. We are all guilty of that.

In regards to your quote above there is a time for everything...

From the Bible, Ecclesiastes III (King James Version):

3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3:3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
3:5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
3:6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
3:7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

As you all know I am not a Bible Thumper........ Food for thought is all.

So, is this going to become a bash religion thread?

I love reading those. As people stand and bash and others stand and defend everyone forgets the idea is to look in the mirror. Too bad most people are too busy looking at the other guy to remember to be self-reflective.

Seems to me that's an ability most of people lack, religion or otherwise. And most people never want to take a look at the human aspect of it.

Then again, there's only been one Perfect Man to walk the Earth. Don't know about most of you, but I never even got an application for that job. I'll hold myself to a lower standard, thank you.

But, what the hey. Thank God there's a place in Heaven for a hypocrite like me.

Sorry all. Was not trying to bash any one or any thing. Just pointing out how hard it can be to not be a hypocrite.

"Thou shalt not kill" is better translated "...murder". The OT uses 10 different hebrew words that are all translated "kill". Kill in the context of Ex 20:13 is "ratsach". When the Israelites went into the land, they were told to "destroy" rather than kill, e.g. Deut 7:2.

1 John 1:5 reads:

"Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him."

What's more, Jesus said in Matthew 5:21-22:

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder,and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Not my intention. Took part in a discussion with a neighbor the other day. I am not the least bit religious and he knows it. One sentence he is all religious & the next he is wishing harm on a few folks. Just trying to understand it......The conversation ended with me just turning around and walking away from him...just to avoid the confrontation.....

It kind sounds like a medical condition...Two personalities ???

Doug, one the things you have to remember is people are people. And people do stupid things. Most of 'em aren't even aware of most of the things that come out of their mouths.

The old engage mouth, leave brain in neutral thing.

Is that hypocrisy?? More atrocities are committed in the name of religion than any other reason. That's just the true nature of the "I'm right" religions.

Mental illness runs rapid with religious "overly zealous" I know I have a WHOLE family full of them. Birds of a feather flock together. Crazies find Crazies, Drug Addicts find Drug Addicts. Mopar Fanatics find Mopar Fanatics............. Thats just how it is.

Robert, you more or less summed up this guy. I know I am just as guilty as the next guy for not having a filter between my brain and my mouth at times and perhaps that is just what it is. I have had several conversations with this fellow over the few years that I have known him where his mouth was a half second ahead of his brain. This particular conversation we had just sort of pushed me over the edge.

in every group you have dedicated people believing in what they are doing is for all the right reasons. then you have the folks that are in it for their own personal gains and take advantage of people and their good hearts. its up to us to decide who is for real and who is not.

It's not about catagorizing people, religions, or casting the first stone.
It's about noticing hipocracy and saying that you noticed.

Thats all.
