Second blast with the new dougs d450 headers open run..

Just wanted to add and comment on the installation of the dougs d450............The dougs instructions sucked on how to install them...
first of all ......
you don't have to take the torsionbars out ..
you have to drop the idler arm down..
The 90* oil filter adapter you can leave attached. don't have to take it off.
I installed a mini starter .
They said to install the starter after you had the main middle section attached to the flanges ...but they were wrong .. The starter has to be out of the way to get and the two tubes with the bolt on flanges.. That was the only part of the installation that ticked me off .. they need to up date there instruction sheet.. Anyway .. hope this info will help all of you out there wanting to install these headers..
Oh yeah .... one more thing.. once all installed >...... they fit like a glove .. Perfect !

Good job! Thanks for the info. I'm still about a month away to install mine. But I'm putting a new engine in so I'm hoping it doesn't take 8 hours :-0

Nice, I was watching the first couple vid's, wish it was warm enough to get them out and light em up! Car sounds great man, where abouts you at in Milwaukee?

Jeff

Sounds great!

BTW: you said the instructions tell you to take out the torsion bars but you said you don't have to. Don't you think it gives you more wiggle room to take the T-bars out? On my 68 it sure does. Just my thoughts but taking out the T-bars may take 1/2 hr. but it makes up for it when slipping in the headers. I also take out the steering column. Another 20-30 minutes work but it opens up quite a bit of working room. JMHO

the dougs had all kinds of wiggle room to install..just had to raise the engine for each side installation, that was it.

Also .. removing the torsion bars can be a real B**** if they have been in there 50 years .. I've done quite a few of them. some come out ok some don't even with the correct tools.
imo
steering column had no problems either .. left it right in there.

Cool. I'm getting ready to swap the Hooker knuckle draggers out for a set of Dougs as soon as my elbow heals up (surgery on it day before yesterday). I guess I've been lucky on torsion bars cause all the ones I've done came out fairly easy.

do you have the 904 or a 727 tranny in there i have 1 with a 904 and 1 with a 727
ive heard and read no 727 and no powr steering???1 of mine is 273 ,904manual steering
the other 340 727 power steeering i like the look of the flow with the x pipe too
any mod to cross member ?
oh they are both 1664,65 barracuda's

I heard about that convertible of yours from a guy at a show up in Appleton, he was from Waukesha had a 67 coronet with a Kilpatrick 383 in it, you have a brother named Al?
