Since we've been going down memory lane , what about childhood smells.
I remember hot summer days getting into the old Dodge and it smell like hot, gas and pine sent air freshner.

The smell of burning rubber and race fuel early in the morning!! That is a smell I will NEVER forget as long as I live.

The smell of the interior of an old Mopar.... They all smell the same, no matter where you find them, and they all smell damn fine! I distinctly remember the smell of my dad's '70 Roadrunner before it got moused-out, and the smell of his Gold Duster, and his Cordoba, and his Newport, and Imperial, and etc. etc. etc... And my Duster smells the same way <3

Same with Isuzus... Isuzu cars and trucks have a distinct smell in the interior, and it is wonderful.

If you don't know this smell, try to find someone with a clean original interior (no air fresheners), and go for a ride...

Also, BACON.

Agree :glasses7:

I also remember how my dads 66 Barracuda smelled as a kid, he had a royal pine tree air freshener in there, I swear that only a Mopar can pull off that pine scent better than any other car! Funny, even after the restoration of the interior, you can still get a slight wiff, maybe dad hid one inside the dash :D

This too, still love the oders from salvage yards :glasses7:

90 weight oil ......everytime i smell it i think of when i first started working on cars.

one of the first things my cousin had me help with when he was teaching me about cars when i was a lot younger, was we rebuilt the 4 soeed from his 69 cuda and i remember that was the first time i ever smelled 90 weight and i really like that smell.

Also the smell of a new engine and how the paints smell too when they first get hot, the best was after I broke in the cam on my new 340 in the Valiant, 2,000 rpm's for 20 minutes at 10:30 pm with open headers in fun, glad my neighbors didn't complain :glasses7:

Mopar new vinyl interior with just a touch of ladies perfume lingering . And fresh baked bread !

There is a Country Hearth bread bakery near my house, when the wind is right you can smell fresh bread....if I crave the scent, I drive over to it and just hang out in the parking lot for awhile :glasses7:

Smells that bring back childhood memories? How about the smell of popcorn in the movie theatre lobby when you went for Saturday matinees?
Some specific ones for me:
* Almost every family vacation when I was young was camping and fishing, so the smell of bacon frying and coffee on a crisp outdoor morning in the mountains. To this day I love the smell of coffee but can't stand the taste.
* My dad was an engineer for Union Pacific railroad so the smell of oil and creosote from the railroad ties and diesel engines bring back a lot of memories

I envy you for that . Why don't you box me up some of that smell ?

I love how the lake smells at the cabin, also the campfire smell at night

Not from my childhood but I sure do love it!!

My Dads 68 Road Runner was the first for me, I totally agree. Funny thing is that my grand parents bought a new Dodge Charger in 1979 and my parents bought a 77 Aspen new. They did all smell the same. Bacon mmm.

Or when you pull up to your first destination with your fresh motor and the smell wafts from the engine compartment. Thats the smell of victoy my friend!!

Like others have said, the smell inside an old mopar. The old VW's too.

I really miss the combination kerosene/coffee you used to smell in airports and getting on the plane.

The well water in Florida, to some the sulphur smells like rotten eggs but I guess I didn't know that when I was little, to me it smelled good, I remember that and the sound of the sprinklers going back in forth late in the day. Also the smell of the mosquito spray the county came around with, back when it was kerosene based, we'd hear the little jeep in the distance "THE FOG MAN IS COMING!" and jump on our bikes and ride behind in the thick fog, it was fun not being able to see where you were going. Probably not the healthiest thing to breathe in the fumes, but it was the '60's....

Pine rosin, downy, rain hitting hot asphalt, baby powder, WD-40.

Inside the cabin of a wooden boat, the old tires stores and car dealer showrooms, shoe repair shops, woodworking shops. The smell electricity makes like a spark or an electric motor.

Yep. I remember that smell too. Dad worked in the City municipal terminal for a while (part-time pilot, part-time lineman, part-time maintenance, he REALLY loved aircraft, as do I)... Also, the popcorn from the popcorn machine. One of my earliest memories is picking the lock on the little souvenir showcase in the lobby because I REALLY wanted the Cessna-shaped piggy bank... Didn't take it, but I do remember being quite proud of picking my first lock around age 6 or so...

The well water in Florida,
Again, the same... Back home on the farm, we had an artesian well water supply. Municipal and bottled waters always taste funny to me, because I was raised on 100% clean, unaltered, pure ground water...

Probably not the healthiest thing to breathe in the fumes, but it was the '60's....
Probably the worst part of it all! Probably lead and arsenic in the smoke. ;)

Leaves burning in the fall. Newly poured asphault and Sarah Jean Digsby.
Old service stations with wood floors .

Greatest smells from way back working in some old auto repair places.....

Berryman's B-12 Chemtool
Car exhaust
Safety Kleen solvent
New car smell
Bondo
Burnt trans oil

Another smell that brings back a great memory.......and this is almost embarrassing......when I was stationed in Japan in the military, I would do long runs out in town and smell a sort of raw sewage smell from the "benjo ditches". It sucked smelling it at the time while I was running, but now, when I pass any wastewater treatment plant, it brings back fond memories!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

My dad has been a baker his whole life(80yrs old)still to this day, when I go to his condo the whole floor level he,s on smells like a bakery. Most people in his building are retired,so he,s always getting bothered.Another favorite,s are the first fire up of a fresh engine, burning rubber,Autumn leaves and the Fall Fair.:D

Claude (my neighbour) roasting coffee with an east wind
Cooking chilli sauce on a cool fall day
the air outside after you put a block of beech in the stove

Bacon sizzling in the fry fan, campfire, apple pie, turkey in the oven, christmas trees. How about play doh, crayons.
