A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

-
just a few little things to do.....fan shroud and upper radiator hose, driveshaft, bleed brakes....add wheels and tires.

so close, hopefully this week

Some pics from today. Denny installed his "perfect fit" radiator and shroud
for the 383 - You'll have to goad him into telling what combination it was
originally made for; his exhaustive research came up with the setup where
the fan sets oh-so-close and oh-so-perfect in the shroud.

The full TTi exhaust is now on, including the stainless tips.

I've got all of the new tires and the rear wheels to mount tomorrow; the
special made 4" bc 15x5 front ralley wheels are still at the powder coaters.

Also still "MIA but on the way" are the top battery clamp, the top radiator
hose, the radiator overflow tube, the heater hose bracket for the RF inner
fender and the new drive shaft.

I'll post the pictures and let Denny jump in here after he gets home so he
can point out my glaring omissions.

looks good....think I'll flip those front muffler clamps so the nuts are up.

Wow its coming together nicely.
If you dont mind me askin
What paint did you use on the rad?
Also what is the rad out of? Maybe soon stuffin a 440 in a A Body
And what fan and spacer was used?
Sorry for all the ?s

Eastwood makes a radiator paint....(real thin) for the coils....the remaining is treated to a gloss hi-temp brake caliper paint

no fan spacers....used black powder-coated March pulleys ...standard ratio to keep the water pump spinning at its required speed at idle.

Griffin Aluminum....Exact fit #5-00058 (Summit Racing)
19" Flex-a-lite 1719P aluminum fan (Jegs)
fan shroud #MOPP 2998326 (Mancini racing)

fits like a glove !!(O.J. Simpson)

Oops....almost forgot, still have to bleed the brakes and better not try
driving it hard on these original (tiny) wheels and tires.

Oh, and I believe that the "exhaustive research" was done primarily on
the er...uhh....exhaust system.

So, you've got 15x5 and 15x7(?) 4" B.C. Mopar ralley wheels?

had the 15" x 5" leftover (buyer wanted green steelies) from my Green Duster and the 15" x 7" w/ 4.5 backspacing bought from a FABO member....but readily available thru Summit Racing....all 4" Mopar small bolt circle

We did put all new RH studs in...no more period correct /original LHers

If I had to do this build over again....I wouldn't change a thing.

But now you have my curiosity. What was the original application
for that radiator spec as alluded to above?

Also, with the 4" B.C. have the axles been upgraded?

1970 Cuda AAR

stock 8.75 axles.....it would take Hercules to break one with street meats....ever see one break?...me either

did put new adjustable/stock bearings on the axles....new in the box, but had the original receipt with them where brother Weeb bought them in the early 90's

hi Sky...what's new?

Hey Denny. Just working my butt off and still chasing my son around playing baseball. He was pitching today in the junior college state championship tourney. He did good but they were already down 6/0 when he came in to throw, in the second, too much to overcome, they lost 12/6. We are out of tournament now, so we get a little break.

I did get the headers in for the car last week still trying to decide which way to go on the bell housing.

Looks like you all have been very busy. I'm a huge fan of this new project your building.

Hey guys I have been lurking over on classracer once in awhile, and there are a couple of threads that are gathering info on the original BO29 and LO23 cars. Just thought since you all have lots of historical info. you might want to check them out. One of them is my thread on the BO29's. Not trying to take away from this site just thought since there was a thread there with tons of info on the Darts that I would keep all the info in one place, so I started the Cudas thread there instead of here.

I'll check it out for sure...I luv reading about the original HemiDarts and always ready for more info.

Thanks Andrew, but it's Dan's build....I just get to help...just like the old days (1970's).

All done but for a brake bleed...wheels/tires....and a fire up

whoo nexx???

Maybe I should just send mine north, at least it would get done, and done right I might add. Not like the lame I guy I got working on it now, nothing ever gets done, I just need to fire myself and hire Denny.
