Hi guy's . I introduced myself in the welcome wagon but I thought I'd introduce my 70 Dodge Dart and say a little bit about it and how it came to be . She was born an H-Code , B-5 BLUE , 340 , 4 Speed car . I've owned this car since about the late 80's early 90's and hasn't been driven ( up till now ) since 2001 . From what I found out years ago , I'm the third owner . The original owner only drove the car a 1/4 mile at a time in street form and never really modified the car it's self other then the motor . So it was never cut up or anything like that . I never had the original 340 or tranny . I think that went with him . Back in the late 80's early 90's I won the car off the second owner . That's right I said won . Back when I was young and foolish the second owner insisted that his Dart was faster then my Charger . He lost the bet . lol We drove the car for about a year and then I took out the motor he had put in it and put one in that I had built . Drove the car for a while . It paid the rent for about a year because my Charger was getting to well known in the area and so forth . In 2001 , I got a call from my wife who told me that she had some good news and some bad news . She told me that she had come across a guy in a big block nitrous 69 Chevelle and he was real jerk . The good news was that she won the race but the bad news was that she lost the motor . So the car got parked and I never got around to do anything with it . Over the years we put it up for sale as a roller but got tired of dealing with tire kickers and low ballers . We did have one guy come down and look it over real good and he offered us $5500 for it but I lost his phone number so we ended up keeping the car . So this year ,the plan was just for me to throw a used motor in it , sand it down throw it in primer and drive it a little and decide if we were going to sell it or not . Once and for all . Well as you can see I kinda went over board . The 360 roller cam motor that's in it now I was building for my truck looked REAL GOOD and I started thinking if this motor would pull a full size truck then it should be real fun in my lil Dart . lol Then came the rebuilt 727 then came the Viper blue paint , etc , etc , etc . lol Like I said I kinda went over board and carried away . And I'm still not done . lol I hope you enjoyed the history of my Dart and the pictures to come .

This is what she was like when we first got her .

She's a little dirty but I think she still look's pretty good . Still got to wet sand and buff her out to get that wicked shine that I'm looking for . My wife thinks I'm nuts . Also decided to put a rug in her . She never had one of those . lol I'll let you know how it turns out . That's about it for now , hope you enjoyed this journey so far .

Thanks Randy . It's been a long time coming . I just checked out your build thread and that's a hellava project you have going . It's nice to see someone willing to go to that extent to keep another Mopar alive . And it looks like your doing everything the right way to boot . Can't wait to see your progress . Keep up the good work !

Well I got a nice brand new rug in her now . I think it came out really good . If I do say so myself .lol I think the navy rug go's good with the Ivory seats . It's still hard to believe that these seats have never been recovered . Some how my door panels came up missing while in storage . So I'm now on the hunt for some blue door panels . The one's that are in it are some I had out of a 72 and I only had three of them . So if any of you guys have any blue door panels that you want to get rid of then feel free to give me a shout . It would be nice to have 70 panels but I'll consider any 69 to 72's . As long as there blue .

Thanks Stan . I bet after all these years you wish you had kept that one . lol I just sat down and read your build thread and your Dart came out amazing ! I really like the blue you picked out .

Very nice Dart Bear. The hood def makes it look mean
Thanks "Dusterdude" ! I couldn't decide weather to use the original dual scoop hood that I still have or the lift off six pack hood . I decided on the six pack hood because I just like the way it looks and the way it sets it apart from other Darts that I might come across .

Hey Bear,

What color is the blue you used? It really pops
I'm thinking about PB4 Cosmos Blue that they use on late model Wranglers for my 74 Duster...

Beautiful mopar, i have the 71 working on 360 ,i would love get a hood like that.

Always said I was never going to sell it, then I traded it in ona new 4x4 in 77.
Thanks for the compliment on my build.
Your dart looks close to the same shade of blue.

Wanting to change it up a little but keep it "all" Mopar I decided on Viper blue pearl with a mess of clear on it . If the PB4 Cosmos Blue is the color I'm thinking it is then I think your Duster would look good with it . I tried to find a color chart with a good picture of that color but I couldn't find one that "really" showed a good picture of that shade of blue . Do you have one ?

Thanks "Cgharvey" ! Mine's a race lift off that we had put on it way back when to take some weight off the front end sense the stock hoods were so heavy . Plus the six pack hood scoop was one of the best factory scoops for air flow . Besides the fact that I think that hood looks WICKED on that gen A Body . lol If you don't want the lift off like I have you could always just put the scoop on your steel hood and mold it in .

Yah I always said that I'd never sell the Charger that I bought back in 79 but when I just wasn't driving it as much anymore I just sold it about four years ago . Of course you "know" I'm kicking myself now though . lol Your very welcome about what I said in your build thread . I meant every word of it . You do "very" good work . I owned a shop about 20 years ago or so were I worked on everybody's hot rods and race cars I would have loved to have had someone like you working with me back then . It's funny about the colors of our Darts being so close . When I was trying to pick out the color for our Dart I had it narrowed down between your blue and mine . I guess we "both" have good taste . lol :glasses7:

This is it. I have not seen a good picture of it.
I like it because it's more saturated than B3 Basin Street Blue, it looks GREAT with black striping and interior, and it's a Mopar Color.
I think this will look great on a 74 Duster with chrome super sports and nice new chrome bumpers and trim.
I saw a nice charger at a local cruise night last summer ( see pic )that is the inspiration for this paint scheme, however I have never seen a Duster in B3 that blew me away, and I'm just not into the white stripes that came on the B3 Dusters....
Didn't mean to run off with your thread....

I think that color would look great with black stripes and interior and I think a nice set of SS's for wheels would be perfect . How about a picture of your ride or at least the link to your build so I can check it out ? And don't worry about running off with my thread . I get into what other people are doing to there Mopars and the ideas they have . :happy1:

Are you the same "bear" from FTO?
what happened to that hood?
That's me Chuckie ! How are you and the family doing ? We've been seeing on the news you guy's getting all kinds of floods and such . Are you and the family OK ?
