Headed to the Dyno. Any guesses?

-
Well, this sucks! My Dyno was scheduled for today or tomorrow. The motor on there now isn't finished being tuned and probably won't be done today. My builder leaves for vacay on wednesday. Looks like I'll have to wait a week. Not real happy. Builder has had the motor for 9 1/2 weeks. Guess I can wait 1 more.
Thanks for all the input.
I hope its worth the wait.

Don't feel bad. My builder has had my engine for a year and it's still in pieces! Talk about hoping something will be worth the wait.

I'll guess 609 hp and 567 tq.

Your patience is impressive. I would freak out if I had to wait that long. Then again, it would depend on wether or not I had other things to work on. I'm kinda stuck until I get the motor back. Can't set up the suspension or cooling system and I really don't want to do electrical until everything but the interior is installed. Looks like I'll be working on the fuel cell install this week.
I would love to see 600 hp. I think my carb might hold me short.

Downs Fuel has 100 Street Blaze and VP 110 right out of the pump. Just thought I would pass this along. Your in San Diego, I am sure they have one down by you. I have a commercial account with them. 24 Hour Fueling that way.

Us here in CA are screwed when it comes to E85. There are only a few places that carry it. Closest one to me is about 45 Miles away. You can however get set up with a Delivery Service that will drop off 55 Gallon Drums to your location. Got to be careful with that though cause I heard the shelf life is not very long like that.

I found a couple places between downtown and Pacific Beach that have 100. They are within 5 miles of me. So, I think I'm good. Haven't looked for E85 yet. If anyone else knows of other spots near downtown or just north of downtown, let me know.

Dam! I was hoping for some fun numbers today.

The ONLY reason I'm ok with the time it is taking is because I specifically told the guy that I was in no rush and I had a lot to do to the car yet before I needed the motor back. And yet here I am, a year later, still fiddling with the car and not ready for the motor. Wiring is the biggest hurdle right now.

Looking forward to some numbers on yours.

So, they fired it up and it hit 100psi at 3k. Builder, not original builder and did not assemble the bottom end, said we can pull it off and start by looking at the pump. Or, since we have it here, put in thinner oil and see if it holds steady or climbs very little up to 5k. I'm not there at the moment and am trying to make a decision on the fly. Thoughts? Anything constructive is welcome . Thanks

I am going with 430 at the wheels. I have the same basic set up and I got 491hp / 522tq at the motor. Granted I'm 11.8:1 and was running a Holley 750, so I give you a bit more, but subtract for wheel HP. I am very interested to see how you do. I just missed getting mine on the wheel dyno at Mopars in the Park this year. Next year I am signing up early.

Quick update. I'll try to get a video link on here today and post the sheets when I get them on Friday. It came in on the lower side of expectations, but achieved what I was originally after. I was looking for north of 500 HP and 500 TQ.
Made 2 pulls to 3k and showed 100 PSI
Put in thinner oil and made 6 pulls up to 6,200 showing 75 PSI
Made 516 HP @ 6,000
518 TQ @ 4,700
Numbers indicated it could use more cam. There is still room in the carb.
Not the 550 to 600 I was thinking, but I'm very happy with it. Idles nice around 850. I think its gonna be just what I'm looking for.

Curious if that's actual or corrected numbers. I assume actual.

IMO - you have something amiss there. What did the heads flow?

Didn't have them on the flow bench. Just had the port work done and put them on. I figured it was what it was and thats it. Also, I have to admit that this being the first ground up build for me, I feel like I miss some of the obvious things. I should have had them flow tested. I'm happy with the power in terms of what it means for my car. My only concern would be, do the lower numbers indicate a problem with the motor? Longevity, etc..
Another thing to mention. The manifold was port matched to the unworked heads by original builder. Now that they have been ported, the manifold is no longer matched right?
I think doing some work on the manifold, changing cams and a bit more break in would put me at or just over 550 on hp and tq. I just don't need it. Not yet anyway.Lol
I am still open to thoughts and observations as I know most people were expected higher numbers, as was I.

I don't know for sure. I can confirm thursday, but I think actual.
I can tell you it was 75 degrees out, probably 80 in the dyno room, 30% humidity and 410' elevation. 31.1 on the barometer. lol.

Who ported the heads? If they were ported the porter should have given you flow numbers. How can he even know what to remove and where to remove it without flowing the heads? Unless he did CNC which it does not sound like, but even then he would know what that program flows when complete.

FYI- Those dyno numbers are plenty for a street car and more than enough for you to get thrown in jail! Lol

Thats why I am happy with it right now. If I were headed to the track, I would be pushing to make changes etc. There is definitely more potential there. Also, I think this cam will behave well on the street. Who knows. I also like the idea of having more room in it when I get used to what it all ready has. You know what I mean?

Did you make any jetting and timing changes yet? what does that motor want?We found my Carb out of the box was a bit too fat, 73 pri with PV and 87 sec. Dropped to 85 in the rear made pull gained 10 ft tq at 2900. Put 3" drob base air cleaner on for last 3 pulles and lost 10 ft tq. Dropped primary down to 71 and the torque came back. My motor didnt want any more that 19 initial and 32 total. My combo also showed no gains with a dual plane intake. and carb spacers.
