why I HATE

Wasn't there a version of the Neon that would almost hand the new Challenger it's ***?
Yes, actually. The SRT neon. Turbo 2.4. I witnessed them hitting high 13's in stock form. But a good driver is a must as these were stick shifts.

That would whoop up on a Challenger. That's pretty sad.

I for one love the cars.............but I am disappointed because of what they could have been so far. Hopefully the Hellcat engine will change that, but all we have to go on is past experiences with Chrysler, which are not very good.

Me too...

Exactly. Well in between there were prowlers and the crossfires... I think a fat challenger and a 4Dr charger is better than those cars representing Chrysler any day.

The prowlers suck! Who would make a hot rod and not put a V-8 in it. :wack:

I drove one and it couldn't even spin the tires in a straight line, you had to do a turn to break them loose. Those 3.5 L engines were slugs! Rated at 240 HP, but only put out 210 HP... :-(

If you're going to make a retro hot rod, put a V-8 in it... :D

I saw modified Neon SRT4's embarrassaing Vipers at Milan Dragway. :sign5:

I would too! the 68-71 Dart swingers were the best running 340 cars going! The dealer advertised them as baby hemis!

A guy I knew back in the old days, Hemi Greg, used to say that, "340's are small blocks that don't know it. They are supposed to stop pulling on the top end, but keep on pulling..." :burnout:

When if ever, will they make a new Challenger convertible?

I've been waiting since they came out with the new ones... Nothing.

Mustang and Camaro have convertibles available... WTF???

They need to put the old style dual rectangular exhaust tips on them like the original dual exhaust Challenger tips from the old days...

And ditch that auto stick and go with a Slapstick for automatics, just like the old days...

YES! YES! KEEP IT ROLLING! This forum needed this for awhile! NO harsh feelings, just folks having their liberty at Rant'n about the new chally's. Stink'n Challengers! Underachieving pigs! Take me back to 1995 when the neon 1st came out! Yes, those were the years to be hold..... :)

You remind me of Star Wars when the Emperor and Darth Vader are trying to convert Luke over to the dark side... :happy1:

Good, good, feel your anger, let it out... and your transformation to the dark side will be complete....

318willrun.... I am your father.... Come by my side and we will rule FABO together as father and son..... Buhwaha....

I can feel the conflict in you....

LOL!

I hate reading all this bullshit, on a MOPAR A-BODY forum.

YEA, what he said. Which is my main thought anytime new cars comes up here.
(Not that this thread does not serve the purpose intended to corral it)

Ok, everyone.
Just take a pill and realize this same discussion could have occurred 35 years ago if the internet was available.
People would have argued the merits of Ford, Chevy and Chrysler products just the same.
And they did. Go buy a Ford or Chevy if that's what floats your boat.
The main difference would be the constricts of government regulations and the economics involved.
And given those, perhaps Chrysler did as good as they could. I’m no expert on them.
That being said I don't care for the way the car looks compared to the original.
Is that a surpise?

Also.....what would your opinion of the Crossfire be had they come with the 5.7 Hemi? I sorta like the little cars.[/QUOTE]

I do actually like the styling of the crossfires. Shh don't tell.. if they came with the hemi that would just be sweet. Now throw the newer charger body panels, srt grill and keep the fastback roof and I think would be a great looking car.

I am puzzled by the poor resale value of the crossfire. The Beemer convert sells well, the main competition.
Another hate: The biggest reason I sold the Challenger is once rubbing out a scratch, I dented the quarter panel. Then it all came back to me ! My 70' Challenger(gone now) Was made of real steel. The new one reminded me of the rubber cars I played with as a kid. Too much technology. It went away. I started driving my paid for GTS, and 66 Polara more often, and got an old 96' Ram for winter, all paid for. no Payment. 25.00 per year license plate, Instead of 600.00. Now, those 70+ year old ladies at the Bus stop wave at me all the time!(ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!)

Do they whistle at you and pull their dress up a little to show you some leg???? LOL! :booty:

Maybe it takes them back to their "good ol' days" of when they used to be young and pretty and they think that they still look like that, so they wave to you and try to get picked up...

You should wave or whistle back to them, just to make them feel good... It will make their day, maybe whole year... :angel5:

Just be happy that they're not twerking like Miley Cyrus.... :booty:

I did it! I finally really found something I do hate about the Challenger! It happened just last weekend for the third year in a row! You go to a Mopar show, and there are at least 20 Challengers you are forced to walk through first, before you get to the classic stuff!
Even when I owned one, I was irritated by that. I said to more than one guy, "If I wanted to come and look at a bunch of Challengers, I would go to the dealer" Mustang and Camaro shows are the same, The clubs seem to be dominated by these type of guys, which is why I refuse to belong to their club, and don't ever show one of my 60's cars!

So there! If you look hard enough, a guy can always find something to hate!:happy1:

Guys who don't know **** about cars but love them deserve to be able to buy these new cars as they come with a warranty and you can glue or stick on all the aftermarket bling you like on it in order to customize/set yourself apart from the other 1000 cars that look identical to it.

Give the posers a break....if not for them there would be no new camaros, chally's or mustangs to bash.

That being said the Charger is the best of all of them IMO.....give us a 6 speed please.:toothy7:

I now remember another silly scene at a local Mustang show a few years ago: One Guy thought the 1st place winner somehow rigged the voting, and the 2nd place Guy threw a tantrum Implying that his car deserved the 1st place. They began to argue, fists started flying, and friends of friends jumped in! I laughed at the silly grown men acting like kids fighting over a lost ball in grade school! Mustang Guys!

As with the ladies at the Bus stop, They were old, but their eyes are the same. They get that look just as if it were 1968 again. I always wave, and turn up the radio. They really smile when I do that. What I like is when your windows are down, all the young kids yell out how cool your car is. That is heartwarming. Were not dead yet!

I hate that you can't get B5 blue either...
I hate that you can buy B5 blue as part of the so called high impact colour line on the Hellcat but you can't get Turbine /Medium Bronze / FrostFireMist whatever you want to call the Bronze they re-released a couple of years ago and I really hate that the damn sales manager at my local dealership can't give me a price and is making me wait a couple more months before we can sit down and figure out what I want to order , and I really hate that Ma Mopar makes them big enough for my 6'2" 240 pound frame to actually fit in , why couldn't they make them like the Mustang designed for a 5'6" guy who lets his little man syndrome make him think beaking off to 6'2" carpenter is a good idea ? man I hate Chrysler for making a car I want .
PS I also hate that I can't back peddle and pretend I didn't tell everyone how terrible Mopar is a dozen times in other threads only to act like I've always supported them in this thread .

Right on the nose! They at least make a car for fully grown people. I have been around Mopars since the 60's, and I still don't understand why Chrysler does such a poor job of producing, marketing, and providing prompt service down to the Dealer level when ordering a new car. It is as if they have to relearn the skill over and over.:wack:

What I HATE about the new Chally's is those that own them won't post an E.T. on my other thread, "how'd ya run against this" .. lol
