Does anyone know if a Viper T56 can be mated up to the Turbo 2.4 SRT engine? It might be overkill, but I already have one. My plan was for a 360 in my 64 Valiant, but I really like the SRT swap. Thanks.

you'll have to use an adapter plate on the back side of the block from http://www.dynamicracingtrans.com/SportsComp.htm and a small block mopar quicktime bellhousing to a t56 trans

OK I got to dynamic. Were you talking about the 904 adaptor?

yes, tony appuzo is the guy goes by the name of "turbocolt" has an early 1972 rwd dodge colt with an srt4 in it. that adapter bolts to the srt4 and 2.4 engines and has the smallblock bellhousing bolt pattern needed for the quicktime bellhousing
 
With the adaptor plate, wouldn't the input shaft for the T56 trans be too short?

that information will come from the supplier of the adapter plate. there may be a crankshaft hub adapter, or custom pilot bearing that rides in the center of the flywheel
 
This srt4 Thing is becoming an epidemic. LOL Just wish one of us would finish one.
 
Check out Neons.Org regarding some of these swaps also. There's a couple of guys swapping them into all kinds of stuff. Like a '77 Celica. lol I always thought a late '90's BMW 318Ti with an SRT4 swap would be fun...never thought of it in car like this.

I'm normally not a fan of this body style, but when I realized he had shortened it, and saw the pic with the 'Cuda-esque rear window, I read the whole thread.

I'm loving this project, though I'm still an old school motor guy. I love the early A bodies, ,but putting much power adding stuff on a /6 or small block and you quickly run out of real estate under the hood. No question that 40+ years of engine developments have brought about more efficient platforms to build performance with fuel economy. Your parts swapping and adapter sourcing are true hotrodding at its finest! Keep up the good work.

as i promised a small update. to some it may be a little redundant, but if you want a nice car in the end you do the bodywork until it's right. so the back end is inching it's way towards primer.

do you have a link to this guy and his colt? a few years ago i thought about building something like that but instead the plan was to use the drivetrain from a Chrysler Conquest Tsi
