More cars then barns! Stop the Barn Find HYPE!

-
Have to agree with you. Barn find kinda replaces the old story where the son goes to war and dies and parents advertise 58 Chevy that turns out to be a pristine 58 Corvette.

I agree. I am so sick and tired of running across barn found JUNK. everything is a flipping barn find. I even saw a "barn find" mopar starter for sale. STFU

Still trying to buy this one!! 64 Belvedere 426 street wedge 4 spd. All original !! 2 miles from my house. IN A BARN !!!

Now that's a Barn find still in barn!! And of course the guy that owns it is "going to fix it up one day right"? lol, we find cars sitting in fields and under carports down in florida and the owners wont get off them! I take cash in hand and offer it o them and they still insist they will get around to fixing it up one day! Good luck on getting the 426 max wedge car! We have one but it wasn't in a barn lol!! Dads had it since brand new as most of his other mopars! Now in a custom built barn/garage lol!!

like being an actual barnfind adds any value to it
id much rather have a well maintained car with 150000 miles on it that is in driver condition with a 8/10 paint job done in the late 90s then a all stock 32 miles car that needs EVERYTHING

Most cars dad and I find in 'barns/garages need more work then any other we see, but it is fun to see what they have hiding inside, but as far as being worth more then a garaged maintained car I doubt it lol. People that come over to my dads house always say "whats in the barn" lol His garage/shop is shaped like the old farm type barns 200ft by 150ft 2 story barn! LOL! its jammed full of 15 cars, boat, motorhome, motorcycles, my Peterbilt and 5 car car hauler and other toys we have lol. Anyways I agree with what you said!

Isn't that the truth.

so all my cars are barn finds because I have them stored in a barn LOL :D

People have lost track of the fact that the term "barn find" was originally intended to indicate a car that has been in storage for a very long and very much in the original condition it was many years ago.

Hacked up or unfinished resto-mod cars are far from "barn find"

I agree with the OP that the mis-use of the term is somewhat disturbing.....yet somewhat comical.

The most hated term other than "survivor". Of what?

LOL! agree! I stated before that all cars you see today are "survivors" or you wouldn't be seeing them right? Survivor cars that are totally unrestored and still going are the exception and I have seen a few excellent examples of these cars that have stayed original and not cut up or raced and they are in my opinion true survivors but misuse of these terms to sell a car or whatever is getting out of hand lol! I still go cruising the country on road trips looking for cars in yards or wherever they can be found and you would be amazed at what you can find! On my trip home to Florida from Colorado next month I will take back roads and see whats out there lol, its an addiction! And I am sure I will see many "barns" and drive by wondering whats hiding inside LOL!!!

Check this search I did and it will make you cringe that people let these cars sit and rot!

even if a car is a "barn find" or original....who cares. unless its a hemi cuda it wont really matter.

Most original cars or "barn find" cars in the true definition are slant cars that need restoration and modified to make it a joy to anyone.

Even my car was advertised a couple years ago as "original" "survivor" on Denver craigslist and then the seller put it on ebay when he realized his CL price was too low. The seller really pushed the idea that its an original but what that translated to was slant six and small rear end and 13 inch wheels which are not even things that add any value.

In the last 40 years I've owned over 300 Mopars plus several other makes and I've yet to find one in a barn. Lots of them out in a field but not in a barn.

Exactly! Found many cars sitting in fields, driveways and carports and even a few inside "barns" kept a few and sold the rest.
