I took the advice from another thread about shock choices with Super Stock Springs. A member suggested 1968 Imperial Shocks for the extra travel.

I stupidly took this advice without checking it out further and bought some KYB. They do not fit as they have a metal insert bonded in the top mounting which is to small for the Original Duster mounting bolt.

I tried pressing it out with no luck so called KYB and they said this insert is bonded in place and would be difficult to remove.

Moral of the story don't believe everything you read
 
Sorry to hear that.... I have used 70,71 Chrysler Imperial rear shocks on my S/S 002-003 springs. Here are are some measurements, to check with, Hopefully this helps. No one lists the measurements anymore. If this doesn't help, the back of the Monroe paper catalog ( and online..), has the measurement charts in back.( E catalog, lower left on the Monroe homepage).

I`ve also got a set of standard imperial shocks on my 68 barracuda w/ s.s. springs and a dana 60, only trouble I had was shock washers, I didn`t have any---------bob
 
The mopar long drag shocks are still available. Jegs has them.
 
i spent hours on the web looking to replace my mopar drag shocks on my 68 barracuda with ss springs. I found the Monroe gas magnum p/n 66859 to be a perfect fit but what really sold me was the 28 inches extended length. 35 dollars each e bay

Same thing happened to me I took a drill and drilled holes on upper rubber bushing then grabbed pliers and twisted/ripped them out and I used my old upper bushings they fit right into the new upper Kyb hole mount.... If your old upper busing is one piece grab a wood saw and saw straight down old rubber bushing and use it as a two piece EASY :D :cheers::sign12:
 
Wanted to add to this thread for others who might be searching for similar topic... I originally ordered the KYB KG5413 that are long enough but require you to modify the top bushing to work. You have to remove the metal sleeve then either thin out the remaining bushing then use a spacer or multiple washers to fit. Or you can remove that bushing entirely then use the old bushing from you last shocks to work. We attempted to make this work but in the end could not without tearing up the bushings. So I ordered another set of shocks that I came across when searching online that were supposed to work. The Gabriel 81091 and they will work length wise but are just like the KYB's where there is a metal sleeve and the bushing has to be modified just like the KYB shocks to work. Again we tried and in the end couldn't get the bushings to be right without looking like garbage or too loose from removing too much of the bushing. So now I have ordered the Mopar MOPP4529514 sold by Mancini and Jegs. I hope these will just fit and not require modification geez.

I ended up going Mopar Drag Shock and to be honest they were quite affordable. Wish i had done it from the start. KYB's I bought are still in the box covered with Dust
