Drive on Lift for the Garage

-
Is this the one that you are thinking about? http://www.kwik-lift.com/

That one is made in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Looks like I will never know if my fix worked. I was putting the car up on the jacks so I can start working on cleaning the underside.Well, it done fell and the jack severely dented the gas tank. It spit about a cup of gas out of the gas cap and I was waiting to see the gas pouring from the bottom of the tank. I think God intervened and did not allow the tank to split. Thanks God Until I drop the tank and pop out the dent I will have no idea what is happening. I am confident my fix was working. Today I saw the needle at the full sign. Up until today it was pegged so far to the right, I could not see it. I may need a new tank and it seems for sure I will need a new sending unit. View attachment gas tank pawned.jpg
At least the jack handle through the wall wasn't as bad as the tank when the car fell.

The jack handle was when I was lowering the car, normally. For one reason or another. While trying to get the car up, the jack stand starts to tip. When I tried to re-lift the car to take pressure off the jack stand it shifts and slides to the left and down it went.
The picture above caused a bunch of damage, but it also led me to discover some very shoddy flipping the last guy did to sell it. I am glad I found it this way and rectified the problem before it had a critical breakdown. i.e. I found that the bottom of the spare tire well was completely bondo. Bondo was holding up the gas tank

My response was facetious. All of a sudden people are insulting me and my tools. They have no idea who I am, what I have and only catch a glimpse of a picture I posted. With that little information, they sound like my parents oldest son (who I have had nothing to do with for 30 years)
So I posted what I did to see if they think about what they post before typing it in.

I am 61 years old, very well educated, and I am smart enough to ask for advice when I am confused about something. Usually I can get information here faster than reading thru the endless listings on Google. I was looking for information, not to be patronized..

As I posted earlier, I was given the info I was looking for early on and the info was greatly appreciated.

Does this make sense now???

Not even remotely. Based on the other posts, I'm not sure anyone understands exactly what you're doing.

If you're using FOUR bumper jacks to lift a car "evenly", I'm saying that's incredibly dangerous, whether jack stands and/or floor jacks are involved or not.

If that's not what you're doing, then I'm glad you got the answer you were looking for, and I'm glad you're alive to tell us that. My apologies for misunderstanding.

Obviously you did not read the first section of post #24.

I do not even own a bumper jack !!!

I like this a lot, it cost me about $1300 and will raise the car up four feet....... I would have rather had a 2 post lift but don't have the ceiling height for that.

It seems real busy under the car to be able to work on anything in the middle of the car. I will give it some thought. Thanx

Fortunately most of the stuff I work on is either in the front or back of the car................. Good luck in your search.

Good point, my thoughts are that I am cleaning all the dirt, grease, dirt/grease combo, bad paint off under the car. That is why I need it open, at least for now

Or, have you ever seen RACERAMPS? 4 to 6 " off the ground and then your can go higher from there with a jack

You don't really need a high ceiling to have a post lift like mine and it gives you better access to under the car like exhaust and drivetrain stuff. And its a lot safer then most mini lifts.

I'm not passing judgment, but you come on here and show everyone how your car has fallen......and from the context not once, but multiple times and then turn around and get snippy with people when they tell you that you are doing it wrong. Get a clue. Cars don't just "jump off" jacks or lifts. People make mistakes. More than once is a stupid mistake when it's regarding something as large as a car. Learn from your mistakes and get the equipment to do it right. No one here is trying to be an ***, we're all trying to keep you from getting killed. That's something that's pretty stupid to argue with.

Was this the thread that has the lift you're looking for.

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=264773&highlight=Lift+Garage

fstfsh66 had posted it. The cost was said to be around $1400. I'd considered buying one myself because I liked the idea of having a portable lift that I could move out into the drive if I needed to. These are some of the pics that fstfsh66 had posted of one of his cars on the lift.

I have one of these.

Scored it for $100.

They show up on craigslist occasionally. Typical price- $150-$300.

Usually as "air jack".

I made a couple slot bumper adapters from some gm bumper jacks and steel stock from Lowes.
I use them on my cars with valences.

It's like having 1/2 of a lift. Lift the back- set some stands, lift the front- set some stands.

Great for my dirt floor pole garage, too.

Hmm, looks like the one in the pic has factory slot adapters.
I wondered what those loops were for.

I also agree some care/analysis is not happening.
I've used some very creative lifting techniques, and not had one drop in over 30 years.

OK, once but it was driving up ramps, backwards, up hill at an angle, and with bald tires and a limited slip.
Slung the ramps right past the tires.
I HATE ramps and never use them if any other possible method is available.

If you're using three point stands, they have a tendency to tip.
Gotta be super careful positioning them and monitor them until car is fully seated.

Lifting either end causes the axles to be in a different relationship to each other, which can tip the stands.

I have two of these as well. Just got them and they work awesome. I also paid $100 for a pair and they are out there.

I have had a Kwik Lift for a few years and love. Very well built and very safe. My initial plan was to get the motor and drivetrain done and then sell it? I have made a couple of modifications to allow the use of a winch to get the onto it when it's not running.

If you'd like so,e more info send me a PM
