IF my reading and understanding is correct, a shift kit is not needed in a manual valve body? I guess if I'm reading things correctly the MVB is designed to firm up the shifts as well as give me full control of shift points.

Next question:

I know some of ya'll have the Cheetah shifter. Do you find it difficult to use the MVB?

I have the Cheetah and MVB with reverse pattern, no problems at all. That's what was in it when I bought it last year. I am in the process of replacing the T-handle with a pistol grip. Got it roughed in so far. Everything has seen some "patina" for sure and will be getting cleaned up, painted, etc.
I will probably shorten up the upright a bit yet. Also trying to figure out a nice way to run the wires for the line lock.

Thanks for the info, so you don't find yourself pulling past second?

I kinda like the idea of the pistol grip. How did you attach it?

I have a used OEM pistol grip, that's a pretty cool thought.

Dang it man, you might just have created more work for me, lol.

It locks into 2nd real solid, then you have to slide it over to get to 3rd.

I welded the shifter shaft to the shape I wanted, then welded a threaded stud to top of the shaft for the pistol grip handle. It feels pretty good!

I actually just cut the shaft above the shifter body and welded upward from there. I am torn between keeping the shaft a little longer. It feels kinda old-school like 4-speed setup the way it is now. I think i may try making a more curved/swept-back shaft and see how that feels and looks. As crusty as everything is now, at least I don't have to worry about multiple mods or messing something up that is already pretty!

Gotcha, thanks.

It might be interesting to use an original pistol grip on there, hmmm......

As do I, the line lock anyway. I'm gonna give it some thought. I might be able to install the button right in the handle. Of course then I would have the same dilemma about the wire, lol.

Hey Bruce just a suggestion. If this is for a street car make sure you get a valve body with low band apply. Some MVB's do not have it and IMO it's important on a street car. When the rear band is applied it takes the load off the sprague. Be ready for teeth jarring shifts, LOL

Is there a way to tell? Is it something that can be added if not?

I already have the body, it's just going on the shelf for now until I get the rest of the stuff for the rebuild. That oughta be interesting, since I've never had the pleasure, lol.

I'm about as familiar with the internal workings of a trans as I am about flying the space shuttle. :D

.................U also need to use the 5.0 lever for the front servo.............I believe A+A and John Cope Racing can modify it have low band apply for about a C note...kim........

It may already be, I don't know for sure. Is there a way to tell?

low band apply will keep your feet attached. Without it you might get your teeth blown out. LMAO. Honestly 727 is/can be deadly without low band apply.

I'm aware of that, it's a 904. I don't think I would ever run a 727 for that reason.

with low band apply it does engine braking if in first and if you get off the gas pedal, you know what i mean? My stock VB (727) has got this feature, now modified with a TF2 Kit.
