Were you able to pick up firewall gaskets from DMT for all that you are putting back on?
Yes, I got a whole set for all the firewall openings and the heater box. Got them through Shumacher, but DMT is their supplier

Nice. It's the little things that make the difference between done and done right. Great job on the progress.

I bet Aaron & Kate are anxious to be driving the Duster themselves some day down the road.

It's nice to see their faces when something "new" appears on the car. They like clean and shiny, a far cry from the old rust bucket that we first brought home....

Going to make one nice heater box out of these two and get it in the car next...

Its great to get your daughter to wash the car.
A California Duster works to the take the small dust off.

I know the heat controls are all cable operated in my 73, my car does not have ac so ????
Where does the lines run too?

I think 2 through the firewall to the intake and control valve
The rest go to various vacumm actuators for controlling dampers..

I'd check the service manual for details specific to 73

Thats awesome you are building this car with your kid! I was 14 also when my dad gave me his 74 Duster...I still have it to this day, I will never get rid of it. The answer to your question If you go with the 318 motor you will probably want the 904 Transmission. If you compare the 904 to 727 there really isnt that much difference for what you are trying to do. My advice is to find a A body car with disc brakes being parted out and take the K-member with all the front end parts on it. You can find them pretty cheap. It will be the best and easiest way to do that type of upgrade. I live here in Tucson and there is the whole K member with front end for $150.00 that would solve all your problems finding something like that. Really if you want your boy to just cruise the slant6 will do just fine. Thats what i did for many years until i decided to do the swap. I swapped in a 360. but if you want to convert to 318 or bigger small block, find the K member and a 318 with 904 Tranny. The transmission in the slant 6 will not fit to a 318 . You could also install 1995 and earlier tranny into the 318 I would try to find A500 tranny. it will bolt to a 318 LA block. Hope this helps or i just rambled! Good luck

Hey Man thanks for the kind words. Our car is a factory front disc brake, 318/904/8.25 rear car. We recently installed a nicely built 318 complete with 1.88/1.60 valves in stock heads, mopar .480 cam, performer intake, Holley 600 cfm carb, 340 HP exhaust manifolds in front of a fresh 904 with TF2 shift kit....
Here's a pic of my son steering the assembly into the car....
Taking our time making it nice with advice and help of FABO guys:D

Man... This weekend I had big plans to get so much done on the car and other stuff detoured me. My wife wants to look at houses to buy, my son has a party, my daughter needs help writing poetry, my little guy needs a new video game from gamestop, and my son Aaron needs help getting the engine off his dirtbike project.....

I did manage to get the AC side of the heater/ac box cleaned and put back together, and clean and organize the garage....
