And, the car.....

DSCN0478.JPG

Motor is in the car, still hook'n things up. Some changes from /6 to V8. Working with the weather, should be running soon, and in the near future a trip the the track !! Again, read the 1st two post of this thread to understand this build.

Actually, if you have the time, the whole thread is a good read. Unfortunetly, most of the pictures, as of yet, are lost due to the new FABO.

Can't wait to see how she runs. I've got my heads almost done. Three more intake ports to finish.

Me too. Huge fan of the 318!
I know mine will be far better now than just bolt on parts....she can breath now!
This has been a great thread! Best thing I could have done is port my own heads.

this carb is not the one I bought, but one I know runs ok to break the cam in. Then I will install the other carb :) .
Again, this thread is not about the installation, but I scrounged through my junk for some stuff, and had to buy some stuff for....
kickdown linkage
tranny lines
re-do some electrical (coil, dizzy, oil pressure gage)
exhaust pipes
radiator
fuel lines
an hour here, an hour there, should be driving this week !!!

the exhaust is being a pain, but I'll get it. I ordered the TTI head pipes and I ordered the Jegs header back dual exhaust kit thinking I'd do it myself. The head pipes from TTI fit like a glove and end at the cross member, but the Jegs kit isn't liking the car :(
As mentioned in the 2nd post of this thread, this build is assumed a person already has a car with the 318 in it and dual exhaust.

and a picture of the slant pulled..... remember, this thread was about the 318, assuming one has a 318 in their car and dual exhaust. This is not about the installment.

Really enjoying this thread. What is your method of plugging the smog holes, drill tap and set screws? Are there any plugs that would be self tapping?

no drill, just 1/4 inch tap and 1/4 inch set screw. be sure to put a little oil on the tap and slowly cut back and forth so you don't break the tap off in the head.

Lookin good. Now chop chop Hop Sing. We wanna hear the thing. lol

Your doing good, the pace is just fine!Motors in,tying up the loose ends is the grind.

X 3 million Agreed !! Ask me how I know.
That's two days of my life I would like back! #$@&!

Good news...... and bad news.....
Good news is the motor is running strong for just getting it going  My "seat of the pants" dyno has 14's written all over it :D
I'm pretty confident when I'm done tweaking, my goal will be met.....

The bad news is....
- the tranny still has a nice leak.... it's up by the passenger side up front. tranny leaked before I had it rebuilt, but I didn't bother mentioning it to the shop because it appeared to be a simple pan gasket. don't know what to think now.
-Also, the oil filter-to-block adaptor is leaking. I don't know why, it wasn't leaking when I pulled the motor and I didn't replace it either. Strange.

Still got to get the exhaust done. Right now it's just a temporary exhaust. Get these two leaks fixed, and get some exhaust on it, and a tweaking I will go..... then to the drag strip I will go... :D
