Ok, we all know that a b block fits an a body better, but with lightweight Pistons a 440 revs as good. So how bad is it to deal with a 440/RB block in an a body? All most 451's are anyway is a 440 built in a smaller box with a really short piston...

It’s been done a ton of times. I really in see an issue with certain heads and header figment with the master cylinder, from time to time.

As far as actual engine performance is concerned, bob weight, being the least of the problem, the 440 does a killer job. I’m not sure of the stock blocks stroker ceiling CID is ether.

I didn't think so. I did one 30 years ago used a direct connection k member then. Thought I was missing something. Don't wanna cut the fenderwells like I did then..

these days, not bad at all. Schumacher mounts make things fit nicely. TTI and Schumaucher headers both fit well under chassis. May have to use an offset bracket for the master cylinder and do the blower motor mod for added valve clearance.

Thank you. Yes I saw a good blower mod on here where a guy found a shorter blower to fit that left the box and fan in the same place.

All true, unless u use raised port victor type heads. tightens everything up, w/ "no" room for any blower motor at all, in a 68 fastback. Hotrod heater under the dash will get u by tho. No. 7 plug is directly in line w/ steering column, and close !

I'm goin in a 67. No raised ports. #7 still close or is that just with raised ports? Thanks for all the replies.

Hood clearance is probably the one outstanding question.

Edited post since OP clarified no raised port heads.

I'm gonna use aluminum heads and a Holley street Dom 440 intake. I hope it'll fit.

That offset master kit is well worth using. It gives you more room and is cheap and easy to install.

under a flat hood? it'll be tight but they do sell a drop base air cleaner that'll work and clear.

BOOSTER FITMENT
STEERING column fitment
headers
steering box
AC
pulley system
cetera' ......
actual motor work - when it comes down to it - will have to remove motor to do anything realistically (no room to work)

killer motor to use though.
by the sound of it sounds like you know what youre doing.

good luck!

photos or it didnt happen!!!!!!!!!!!!

In progress. Researching now. No power brakes, manual steering,,, for now. Schumacher headers maybe. 727 with a gearvendors overdrive and Dana 60 with 3:55's aluminum intake, waterpump and housing, intake, heads, headers. Lighter weight.

LMAO! Yea man, me 2!

Lay’em on us if ya gottem!!!!!

Haven't yet. But I'll try to figure out how. To show you what I started with. Wife's gotta show me how. I don't think I can do it from my I pad.

Good idea even with manual brakes? I'm older now. Gotta have ac. Figured like classic air but open to suggestion. Thanks.

Have one in mine, I am the shorter blower motor guy also. No biggie for brakes use a 9' booster kit, hood clearance is ok with a low rise intake, I have a Torker II, one thing I will do when it comes out again is drill two holes in the passenger fenderwell to get to the center spark plugs though, they suck changing.

Did you use the Schumacher headers or? Probably researching this to death. I only want to spend the money once. That's why I'm picking you alls brains... Thanks for all the advice!
