okay guys...biggest pet peeve at car shows

People have no respect for other cars. Never leave you car open, Hood or trunk. This was the worst.

I walked to the Food stand not far away with friends and members of this site. As we returned I saw two legs and sneakers sticking out of my trunk on my Duster.. Having a pizza in my hands I walked up and yelled. He jumped from the trunk laughing and said he was checking my vin. as he scurried away.

After he disapeared in the crowd I saw he scratched my rear stripe. Someone new him and we went looking but he left. He is a member of Mopar Madness . They wanted to see if it was a clone.

The same guy was at the car earlier and was talking to his buddies. He made a comment that I ruined a nice car by changing the color . The car was originally Bahama Yellow. I painted it cobra orange. Someone in there group thought it was their car.

Now my son and I know the guys that were with him and their cars. What comes around Goes around.

I found that people at race tracks are a better crowd. After doing the show seen. racers walk around the car with their hands behind them. Not elbows on the fenders or leaning on it as they talk to the guy next door.

People who can't resist touching your stuff, leaning on the door sill, little crumb crunchers, running free between cars wound up like a top, douchebags pointing out flaws or saying "that's not correct" stuffed animals as part of the displayed car, an encyclopedia of nearly 50 years worth of photos in an album of every day of the cars life, billboard display signage in front of the car (just park the friggin car and leave that **** at home!, Hmm, what else...:soapbox:

At shows with fan voting I hate the guys who stand by their car saying how good it is to anyone who will listen and that they should vote for it. This guy even said to me once that he hoped he'd win 2nd place because he liked that trophy better then the one for first place. Which he did!!

Mostly I just get sick of all the dumb, idiotic, really stupid people who say everything is "bad ***", can't write, can't hold an intelligent conversation, never read anything and, worst of all, are in complete denial about it and are therefore very argumentative and insecure.

At shows with fan voting...
I hate fan voting too, Roadcuda. It's a perfect way to discourage knowledgeable owners and restorers from displaying their cars at the show, so you wind up with all tri-five Chebbies. If you like fan voting at car shows, then by the same logic you should choose the valedictorian of all graduating classes by popular vote, too.

i would have been very quit and just slammed the trunk shut
leave that DB in there for a few hours

Breeders and their reproductive mistakes running around 100k cars with abandon, or in strollers. Now get off my grass!

A brand new stock car. Like I can't see that at a dealer.

Unless its absolutely special and very limited, like a Demon.

I don't get the crying kid doll on the bumper.

WTF?

People that wipe their cars down constantly, if they like it fine, I just get tired seeing them do it. The car might be cleaner than the board of health and they still try to improve on it.

Factory fresh mustangs.
don't forget car shows evolved from the cruise ins of the 60s&70s when these cars were new.its been down hill since just worry bout my own junk screw everybody else

I know, the thread is about what we hate........ but....
at the mopar show (yes, it's a little out of town) I go to, my favorite part is when they leave... most doing burnouts and flooring it. :D
the real car show is the drag way. Cars were meant to be driven, and muscle cars were meant to be "opened up", and it all happens at the drag way :)

now after my last post ^^^^^ ,,,,,,,,,,,, I can't think of something that I "hate" except for super loud music. Other than that, i can walk away in seconds from any car i wish not to look at, and it's owner :D
Clones, new challengers, funky paint jobs or anything else don't bother me, their car, their money, it's America, enjoy it how u wish

I'm 60 years old, and still waiting to hear songs from my era. Doo wop, and those crappy girl bands have to be the worst, most amateur music ever. There was only 3 good 50's musicians. Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, and.... Ok, only 2.
You missed Bobby Fuller !

Number one thing i hate are "Checkbook" cars. That' the reason I no longer go to the good guys show.

Number 2 are the D bags. I had a guy walk up to me and my lady and ask " why did you ruin this car?" My car was a 71 318 auto swinger. It was not some H code car so I cut it up and made a full drag car. My response was "if you don't like it you can just keep walking. I didn't ask you to stop."
:)

somehow I think its really stupid to pay money to display my car so someone can charge money for other people to look at my car

A buddy and I used to go to the various Ford and Mopar show/drags as well as the Olympics Of Drag Racing memorial day weekend races at Great Lakes Dragway back in the 80's and there were always, always douchebags leaving the premises getting on it, burning out, usually the riffraff jacked up heaps that never saw the track...we used to immitate the track announcer with play by play: "Everyone's a racer at Great Lakes Dragway!" as the douchebags rolled out. I still get a laugh from that today!

Checkbook cars! Lol I call them subcontractors. They just buy a car and have subcontractors all over the place fixing it and doing stuff and then the subcontractors tell them what they did and then they to go to the car show and say all this stuff was done as if they did it themselves. Only repeating what their contractors did. As in I took it to the shop and have that done and I took it to that shop and had this done blah blah blah....
