This is my favorite time for filling the freezer up with fresh food, and get my bones moving from a long drawn out winter.
The winds shifted from the north to to coming out of the south yesterday morning and I took advantage of it :) all in about an hour and a half , no giants but great pan fish

Everyone get out there and cast a line :thankyou:

Nice!!
Fishing season just closed here. Until mid may.
A conservation officer was in shop the other day, was telling me about an aboriginal gentleman that drove out at the mouth of the river, in a big lifted f-150.
Ice there is unpredictable, and outright unsafe this time of year.
Didnt know.
He went and set some nets, but got nothing.
Maybe this year i will find the time to wet a line.

Best therapy there is for us that enjoy fresh food from the Lords grocery store, I hope you do take the time @Tooljunkie , you are a busy fellow and work hard, our brains need to be reset just like our phones

I gave away all my dads fishing gear when he passed away.
He had friends he would Surf fish with and others freshwater fish.
Me. i would just work on my tan or sleep under a tree

Here's what fishing in March looks like here in the Mitten!!

Wowsaa !! A dandy there  I hope to land a few 5 to 8 lbs'ers this spring from a small lake I got permission to fish this year, and yes :D it was the rancher that lets me watch his fence lines and has new property on this great lake

That one looks to be a 12 lb trout !! big one, I don't do much fishing for rainbows here, we do have a great river to fish for them, Spring River just to my north about 40 miles @cosgig

He's a spring steelhead, caught in the Pere Marquette river. They are fighters in the spring, and will turn the colors of a trout the longer they've been in the river! This guy was as fresh as I've seen! Caught and released of course!!

I'm 1 hour from the Pacific. .....my FAVORITE fishing is surf fishing....and pretty much year round. .....
There is NOTHING quite like standing knee deep in the largest body of water on God's Earth fishing for halibut or bass or God only knows what. ....
That's my happy place!

Jeff

Last Saturday went out and caught about 20 Rock cod. Near the southern border. They make great fish Tacos!

Water temp must be right so they are out nailing the crawfish on the rock piles. Love fishing, but I’ve only eaten large mouth once, and that was in SERE, along with a copperhead, and some fiddleheads..

I've been fishing for 6 weeks already, when it's not raining. In the good old days I've been known to fish Erie in blizzards.

The ole Marquette is about as good a fly fishing spot as you'll find this side of heaven
(Not sure if there is fish in that river flowing through the celestial city)
