Decided to change gears a bit.

A neighbour decided to sell his 1930 model A 5 window coupe body that had been chopped 3 inches already.
I have always had dreams of doing a hot rod.
So I dragged this home

Plans are to build a chassis
Channel the body 4 inches.
Use my spare a833 overdrive trans
8 3/4 axle then I can swap pots with my dart.
Front i beam axle dropped 4 inches.
Have not decided on engine yet.
I sold my 354 hemis and have been kicking myself ever since. :-(
Would like to keep it pre 1960 style.

Choices for engines could be flathead, nailhead or stick with a stock mopar 340
If a good deal on an early hemi came up I may swing that way.
I am switching gears since My dart should be done this summer. Spare parts need to go to make way for the model A
What engine would you go?

I think a stock, orange 340 with the stock valve covers and all would look pretty cool.

That, or any engine with a more interesting valve cover/cylinder head appearance (Early hemi, W head Chevy, nailhead, etc.)

Congrats on the purchase! I want to hold a classic 'hot rod' at some point too, but I'll probably use a flathead for the sound and look.

Just my $0.02 :D

A ford flathead or a mopar poly
I actually think the poly can be one of the best looking engines out there

I have a 27 5 window tucked in the back corner to hopefully build one day. The old pre WWII bodies are true hot rodding if you ask me. That is what the men built after they got home from the war.

its a hotrod , just make it yours , hemi , wedge , flatty . your pick ! my hotty i'm doing . 27 t roadster and my own frame .

saw those at father's day in pomona swap meet . in fact my spot was just on there back door . could hear them talking them up . but one guy wanted to know what the hp was , the sells guy says and i quote '' its not the hp , its the look '' for 50k , lol . i'd rather have an old early hemi with a huffer . a bud stop over yesterday with a beauty 392 8-71 twin holleys he going to sell . ready for fuel . would look very badass in that model a coupe and run badass as well tooo .

the all alum alloy ones are sweet to look at with a huffer on them . and the fully polished ones are just jewelry to look at . but for 50k you can build one hell of a blown chrysler hemi that looks cool and gets with the program too .

Model A's get pretty cozy with a 3 inch chop and a 4 inch channel. Can't go wrong with a hemi.

V8's are so played.

Slant six with side drafts and six in a row velocity stacks.

That, or a straight eight.

Or a rotary engine.

this will get a early hemi when i get to it , got most of the gear . its time thats needed .

I vote any kind of hemi . I saw a Toyota v 8 hemi in an old hotrod, it idled like a swiss watch and looked cool as he__, but no one including me ,could figure out what it was . Guy said only 2 in the U.S. !!

I seen a Toyota hemi forsale local to me but he wanted HUGE pocket change.
I never believe the "i have the only one in North America crap" cause how do they actually know if uncle Bob has one in his shed?
Anything but a boring 350 Chevy snoozefest
