Can these cars be saved? Looking to make some drag cars and wondering if anyone has done or replaced roofs for our cars? AMD make them or can it be done doner wise? Probably may need new pillar arms also. I can do any type of body work/rail replacement but never got into a bad roof or anything like this. I have doors and few other good parts for replacement. Anything other than a fish roof fit our cars?

Define save? Call me a non believer but I would say no.

I like to save them....but dammmnnnnnn. Those are not even good for a parts car.

Let me think about it for a second!
Second's up.
NO!
I will positively guarantee you that if you lifted those cars up, the rust everywhere on the bottom would be BAD.

Yes, I have done this already. Lifted it and the rust is bad. I know the amount of work that will be involved. Trying to find someone with experience in roof replacement and A pillar replacement. No these are just 318 automatic cars.

It can be saved. But it'll need floors, frame rails, rockers, firewall and cowl, the entire roof, front clip, dash frame, door and quarter have large dents possibly worse. How much of the car would be "saved" vs being a new Cuda. I like that body style and all and I HATE seeing a decent car parted just because it's worth more in pieces than whole. But those cars are junk. I only listed what can be seen for rust issues, I bet just about every panel is ate up.

Yes, thank you for information. Know its not going to be easy and I can get all the parts from donor A body darts and dusters or people that have parts cut out already and they are selling. Just like the barracuda fast back look so trying to save it. Not to many produced, just need someone with roof experience to chime in if anyone has been there and done that on how to cut it off and replace with getting everything back in square on the jig.

Yes, I figure I could buy a complete donor A body car for all the floors/rails. Roof is different possibly? I have a lot parts(doors, deck lid, hood)

So you’re just trying to save the roof from one of these cars and swap the rest onto an in-tact abody? It looks like there’s something to work with there (more on the red one, I think) but I’m not convinced that you would be much better off than starting with nothing and building one from scratch. There’s a lot of damage there, even on the a-pillars.

I admire your optimism and if you save either of these cars, you’d be a hero for bringing one back from the dead.

Sounds like you can and have done everything before except roof work. Can't imagine that it would be that hard to do, but then I have never done it before either. Doesn't sound like anyone else in here has either! Make it a convertible? Just kidding!

As mentioned, If a 340 or BB car, I might flip a coin on spending extreme time/money on it.
You can buy a 318 project car/shell and save a boat load of effort & $...………………

I was recently offered this no title 74 Duster that spent too many years in the woods. I had the option of paying to tow it to my place or stripping it where it sat and the owner would get rid of what was left. I took option 2-and glad I did. Didn't look near as bad as those but underneath it was a crunchy critter. Every time I jacked it up it crunched and flexed. If possible, I would grab any parts you can off those and let nature have the rest.

No, trying to save and repair both. Yes, the redish one is in bit more better shape.

A little bond here and there a little pull couple of parts,
And about $55,000 it will look like a brand new shined up banana.

Why would you want to put all your time and money into that?
I do it for the love of these cars and the challenge of repairing something so far gone and to save It from crusher as these were not heavily produced and the fast back look so good when they are done right.

If you find a solid body, built it.

Cutting up a solid body to save either of these would be silly.

I understand what your saying. And I can appreciate it. I've been around these car my whole life as well. But, I just think you would have so much time and money in it. I think at the end of the day that would make you a little unhappy.

Agree. and I would never do that. What I am searching for is someone who knows if AMD makes a roof that I could graft on or if I could find a wrecked fast back someone parting out without a damaged roof. Also, will another A body roof line like a dart or duster work to where the sides start going into the fastback part? And the A-pillars? Will duster or dart work if a wrecked car can be found? I need someone with heavy roof repair for advice.

What about the ten thousand other parts on both cars that are missing? They have both been stripped of anything usable.

More power to you, sir! So long as you know what you’re getting yourself into, I suspect I’m not the only one who will applaud your efforts.
