hello I am building a 96 SB Dodge Dakota to drag race with. I will be only using the Serpentine Alt belt. the water pump will be electric. so trying to see if anybody else has done what I will be doing. if you have do you remember the belt number? if not I will try and measure the belt out and post what I find out. thanks Mopar65

Are you planning to use a stock Magnum alternator bracket? I am curious to see if it will clear an electric water pump.
When I was mocking up different setups keeping the water pump belt driven, it looked like there would be no way to go around the water pump, but I did not check with electric water pump installed.
Measuring the belt definitely works after figuring out your routing, especially with the metric numbers since the length is part of the belt part number.

Hi yes I will be useing the stock Alt bracket. I have been told the electric water pump wont work with the stock mount. But found a pick of wear one guy made it work. But he was running power steering. My friend that I got the engine off of ran the stock Alt bracket, with a mod stock water pump. He fixed it so that one of those electric motor kits ran the stock wAter pump.
I am wanting to go to a full electric water pump because I am having a hard time finding a electric cooling fan, to clear the stock water pump. Here is the pic of the guy that got a electric water pump to work with the stock brackets etc

Since it's a race truck and planning to run an electric water pump anyway, maybe it would be cleaner and easier to relocate the alternator lower so the belt clears the water pump. Fab up some simple brackets and spacers. Similar to this Chevy kit.

I might end up having to do that. that alt kit looks nice. wish they made stuff like that for mopar.lol

Here is what it looks like with a stock water pump, stock rad and a electric fan off a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Have you considered using a pusher fan instead? FWIW the 89 shelby dakota's used 2 -11" pusher fans sandwiched between the radiator and the condenser.
