I'm here
Paid and delivered. That means it's mine, I guess :) Look'n for something for the snowy days. Got it this morning, seeing what works/what doesn't. 318, Summit intake, eddy 1406, runs decent when warmed up, 1st and reverse have been confirmed to work :D I was told all gears/4x4 all work. Here we go again...….

Body is pretty solid (patch work on rockers/quarters), frame and floors surprisingly solid (mostly factory black),

looks like somebody brush painted the truck with flex seal ….. LOL. picture is from CL add

I love it!! I have a soft spot for ram chargers and square body 1st gen rams. My first ram was a 85 as well it was my everyday driver for over 10 years. I loved that truck. I actually found it on Facebook marketplace for sale lol they are asking 4 times as much as I sold it for 7 years ago lol
Nice find I look forward to seeing more about it!

Nice,
I am thinking of getting rid of my old power wagon and finding a little 2wd 4 cly truck for parts chasing chores, I really do not need 6 4X4's.

After responding to an electronic sensor, we chased a marijuana smuggler circa 1985-1988 in one of those Ram Chargers used as a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle. We only caught up to 'em after he spun out. I was driving and my partner was a female agent.

We drew our weapons, but the smuggler ran away back across the border (we were in an un-fenced desert area). We kept his car and the 168 pounds of pot we found in the trunk. The license plates did not match the vehicle.

The Border Patrol green made the vehicles almost invisible at night (with the lights off).

well, I'm sporadic. LOL..

So far.....
  • confirmed it goes into 4x4.
  • wants to fuss and fight to move... motor runs fine at idle, revs "decent" in park, but coughs and gags when trying to go.
  • ignition timing was so far advanced, couldn't find the mark. I set it at 12* BTC initial just for a base. Vacuum advance is hooked up, not confirmed it works.
  • I changed oil, put 5w-30 with zinc for the winter. confirmed it said 318 on the block when I was under there.
  • Switched some backwards vacuum hoses around. Noticed no ECU... LOL ????? Maybe they went to points????????
  • It has a new mini starter on it :) water pump has been changed at some point too
  • Heat works, wipers don't

friend of a friend had one new in 86 I believe. Came with some seriously skinny stock tires! The looked like runners on that big truck.

.
Are you dragging that guy into the u.s.? I thought Trump was trying to send them all out.

This is my buddy, Trent's, 4X4 RC with 440, auto. It was a border patrol truck from AZ (if I remember correctly). He says it has a huge gas tank (aftermarket?) for the long border patrols and some kind of solar charging system for the communications system in it.

BTW Trent is the man who painted the V21 style treatment to my Dart GT. Obviously, he's also done some work to his RC. Checkout the '73-'73 Road Runner hood scoop grafted on to the hood.

The RAM skull was a Halloween decoration (temporarily tie-strapped to the grille)

Popped the cap - - I guessed right, it's points.

My 85 didnt have an ECU it was regular electronic ignition. My 86 had an ecu.
Here is an old pic of my 85.

Good score.

Check an see if plugged exhaust.

How's the insides?
Insides are about like the outside, some "personally upgrades ... LOL " by a previous owner. Floors look rock solid, no carpet but they sprayed them all lightly with a type of bed liner. Back seat look really nice. Front seats are poor with seat covers. Dash is missing the radio like every old car... LOL, a few stickers on the ceiling (some undesired..:D ), and the original console/compartment with a "new and improved cup holder"..... can't imagine what for... :D

  • Maybe tomorrow I'll snap a few pix of the interior

the bulk head is has a black cover on it? mine is exposed white, looks like a Duster. I bet that would work

Looked like it is wrapped in tape, I thought.

Does yours have a brain box underneath the bulkhead like this is.
