What 340 camshaft?

-
Most anything up to about 240 @ .050 will work......though that's gettin "a little big" for something to drive on the street a lot. The one I recommended is part of the DEH grind series. That's dual energy hydraulic. They are old school grinds, but they are modern at the same time. You get the specs of the Thumpr and Whiplash without the price tag. Look at the large duration split. Just like a Whiplash or Thumpr. But ground on a 110, so vacuum signal and street manners will be a little better. That series is way over looked for other lines that have snappy names, but they are a very good line of camshafts.

But most of these that have been suggested are good. Just pick one and go. You can drive yourself crazy. They'll all make "about" the same power unless you over cam it badly or use one that's too small.

Stock heads won't flow much beyond .475 lift and keep the duration around .220 give or take
and you'll have strong lo rpm torque, pull hard to 5200 and rev freely to 6000 plus.

Most up to the .557 were all designed around the pass car heads, so you're absolutely right on the "up to 240" and even then if you keep the ratio ..they perform.

What about the PP280H purple cam? Its within your guidelines, and the car is not a driver. Less than 1000 miles since last june. Typically 15 miles per week, only around my town. With the 3.91s, I've got better sense than to take it very far.

The thing here is your cars drive train and your description of what you kind of want out of it is so super flexible at this point that any cam mentioned above would work very well. That purple power cam by Comp is as big as I would go.

You could practically, really, put anything in there.

Well...it is an 833 4 speed. It has an 8 3/4 sure grip. It has brand new U joints. I'd like to think I'm smart enough to not over cam it. I drive it a little bit, not very far, and I couldn't give two ***** about gas mileage. I've had the car since June 13th, and I'm pretty sure it hasn't seen 5500rpm.

I really can't race it. It's got radial T/As, 245/60-14, and those tires don't stand a chance with my engine/ gears now. It is kind of entertaining though!

I have a new PP280 cam that was installed but taken out before the engine was run in favor of a solid. No tappets but asking $75 plus shipping from Ohio. PM me if interested.

I just might be. Still deciding.

Don't know about the comp pp280 but had the mopar 280 in a 340 and it ran damn good. That cam, intake and headers, 3.55s, stock converter ran a best of 13.15

I understand what ya got. I have a 11-1 - 360 248 duration @ .050 solid cam in a ‘73 - 4spd Cuda w/4.10’s w/275/60/15’s.

With tires like this, you walk it out of the hole and slowly depress the go pedal until the tires give. Then you know you over powered it and use a little less pedal next time until you find the rate the go pedal goes down until the tires have full traction under the max load they can handle.

Man might have alzheimers or ms etc. If so I feel for him. Sucks trying to say something and it wont come out right.

I’m trying to communicate....

I think he is getting pissed at me and flipping out.
That is not my intention.

Charles, what camshaft do you recommend for the OP's 340. Thank You !

OK, so! Out of the above, I only understand:
Your not pissed off. I can come and see (you) as if I need or you want to prove your not mad.

I’m not sure about “help u or prove me wrong” It half way makes sense from some obscure point of view I guess.

Everything else is like listening to a garbled radio transmission.
