Got the sled back together this past weekend. It runs great, took it for a ride around the yard, but only a dusting of snow. They are talking about a storm coming in tomorrow for these parts. I can only hope!
I would love to got ride in the mountains one day, I would rent a sled if I ever did that.

I've been on Monarch pass, tin cup pass, Marshall pass, wolf creek pass, somewhere more north of Buena Vista and some other place around Monarch pass. Can't remember them all. Not much snow this year really and we are still riding early season conditions but it's still a blast!

The good times are usually had here in January and February, but not very close. A lot of times we have to travel 3 to 5 hours. That was the whole idea of the sled deck making the travel easier.

the only time I ever heard of Wolf Creek Pass was a trucker that went down and around and around and around to the end of town LOL
anyways yes we have a lot of great snowmobiling but again it's three to five hours travel each way so we have to plan for a little trip and dog and cat boarding and things like that so the quick easy trips are an hour away. And they only have enough snow for barely trail riding. my son lives in Denver and we are talking about Mooring our motorhome there and possibly snowmobiling from there in the coming years hopefully. Remember though right now from seeing where you're at it would be like the equivalent of driving to Denver at the minimum and Beyond to do good snowmobiling instead of Out My Backdoor.

My wife and I on our second attempt! We tried day before yesterday and got caught in nasty traffic going up the hill for the holiday week. Anyhow we got an early start yesterday and unloaded in what seemed like minimal conditions. And sure enough we got on the trail and there wasn't even enough snow for them to have groomed yet. But still plenty for a short trail ride. I mean we did end up going about 20 miles or so around trip but the Trails were ungroomed and still full of four by four tracks which were just ruts.
The point was the mission accomplished as far as the sled deck working great and operating great and feeling great on the truck and the truck handling the trip no problem up and down the Hills. Also just getting our first of the Season Jitters out. Damn these machines are fast and they always scare the piss out of my wife completely. So we need a little adjustment time to get her settled down on her machine. I must admit when I ride hers with the little bit shorter track it's a bit faster than mine.
Both of them are just press to past though....

not enough snow ? what do you have over there mole hills,. Idaho and NE Washington hills are loaded with snow.

As I was explaining 3 to 5 hours plus away..
OK, I'm not very familiar with the west side. It's 20 -30 minutes over here.
Got a little snow here now, but the trails are still not groomed,and the trail past my place is quiet. My son rode his over from across the river,for christmas eve dinner.

When we stopped for "mandatory" biskets & gravy a couple snowmobilers that where stopping on the way up came over to admire the sled deck and complement.
I was thankful for the kind words.

I like the chain bracing. Is the ramp so steep as to cause any issues on the skids binding up?

Well the snow storm didnt happen where I live. We got about 4" of heavy wet snow, then it rained for a full day, froze and then got about a half inch of snow.. About 3 hours North, they got anywhere from 12-19". However, the swamps arent froze completely. The trails are open, only groomed up to the swamps, its sled at your own risk. Im thinking of trying out the sno runner for the first time in the yard, except Im nervous it will break. LOL.

I'm not sure I understand skids binding up? but they seem to have no trouble going up there of course they are mountain sleds so they're normally climbing stuff probably twice as steep.

I decided against it, due to lack of snow. I dont want to break off the plastic paddles that only seem to be held in by melting them into the chain links.

Just the abrupt angle up of the skids to start up the ramp... probably a non issue. I just realized that I never have looked (or thought) to see just how steeply the skids can angle up....

Snowmobiling Yahoo! We finally got to go to Eastern Oregon. It was a blast! A great Stroke of Luck I got to get a short ride on the new Alpha One! This machine incredible in every aspect. It's no doubt a snowmobile industry game changer. I could just go on and on about that machine.... Anyways we spent a few days at a friend's cabin and enjoy good meals and good snowmobiling and good friends. The most important I got a chance to get into the "Steep and Deep" and really make the machine work! BRAAAAAP!!!!

I haven't heard of a Northway but I have rode quite a few 440's LOL
I looked it up , had to make sure I was not thinking of something ells from my past 
seems like the rich farmers all had John Deere units back 45 years ago , but looks like my memory served me well this morning
