I Have manual and want to put factory power steering in. Wildcat Auto wrecking can sell me all the used parts needed: Steering Shaft, Pump, Brackets, Gearbox. $750.00 Gear box may, or may not be good... Firm Feel can rebuild it, quote t/c. Has anybody gone this route?? 67-383 Automatic.

Should be able to find parts here and new for much cheaper.

I bet someone might even trade you a power steering column for your manual.

Are you looking for just the shaft that goes inside column? Or the whole column. To replace just the shaft you have to take column apart.

I think the power steering bracket is same for federal pump 383 B-bodies. I think federal is the OE 383 P/S pump, but I would ask.

P/S brackets are probably available new

P/S pump rebuilt from Rock Auto my guess under $75 shipped

P/S gear core is $50 private party seller. That’s all you are buying from Wildcat.

Dang man. Is a hot blonde gonna give you a happy ending too?

For that money, I’d just order a new Borgeson unit and source the brackets and stuff here, probably be in it for the same or even less money but at least the gear box will be an upgrade in the process.

There is a reason why 67 Barracuda 383 didn't come with one...the PS unit wouldn't fit because of the drivers side exhaust manifold....no room.
I guess you have a plan and now a day you might make anything fit.

I noticed a big hole in the fender well for fender well headers !

Only use Wildcat if you are desperate, they are expensive, even then they have sent me the wrong parts. Am just finishing resto of '68 cuda matching numbers, BB w/ P/S. I usually don't like Mopar P/S in these years because they work too well and have no "feel". This can be fixed by FirmFeel. Am uncertain about P/S in a '67 car. Maybe if you use headers?

Where the 68 and 69 383 available with power steering?

I've seen power steering on big block A bodies on this site, but to my knowledge it wasn't available from the factory on the 67-'69's. My 69 is manual. I think you should try the manual steering, I have no problems even with a small steeringwheel. Best part is a one pulley system with no noise or leaks.
And you can spend your $ on something else

Yes, that's correct about the manifold. Not gonna use them, hate everything I've read about them. I'm leaning towards Schumacher headers...tbd

67 no, 68-69 yes. you have the 625 lb 383?

Do you have to still change the steering shaft if you use the Borgeson?

I just wanted to add power steering, cheaply, but WC. Auto's quote made me want to sell the fckr. 67 didn't come w/power, so have to source what's best for me. OE sounded like a good start, but I need to make sure what will fit with headers too...tbd

Bob, where are you at in ohio? I have a ps unit in a parts car, and another setup in a running driver, you can have for a song if you come get it. Or gladly swap you your manual box for one of these.

Gotta fix that too, AMD inner fender work starts this weekend.
How are you at butt welding? If the rest of your inner fender skirts are OK, You can use the AMD pieces for patch panels, and it will take a lot less time. Done carefully, it is not noticeable.

That's what I started with, but it looks like just putting the new panels on would be a better end result. They cut into the flange on the firewall also so that need patched etc.. Have you suffered through this also? Thanks for asking!
