Regarding LA360 main cap bolts; I see in several places that the torque should be 85ft/lbs. However, in Larry Shepard's, "How To Hot Rod Small Block Mopar Engine's", he states 100.

And the truth is...??
 
Depends on bolts (new/used/ARP/Chinese), main caps, lubed or no, etc.

And you have....______?

We did ours to 85 ft * lbs like the service manual says...
 
Unless you've had the block/caps torqued and line bored to a different specification I'd go with the 85 ftlbs defined in the service manual. 65'
 
I'm reassembling a used engine (new to me). I have no idea what bolts they are. It's wrapped up for the night, I'll look tomorrow.

Everything has been very good so far. It has KB190's, MP 292 cam, ported 915's w/ 2.02 intakes, Crane gold rockers.
Everything measured good. I put bearings and rings in it.
I have to look over the heads (it's been a while since I took it apart), put them on and degree the cam.

There are six of the regular hex head, and four of the windage tray versions.

Radial lines would indicate gr 8. I don't know if the circle indicates anything. I have found torque values of 53 (dry), 80, 80 (dry), 90, 100 (lubed), 110 (lubed), 105, 107. All for 1/2-13. Then I stopped looking.

Are these stock bolts?
