What 1/4 mile times have you seen from these cars? Hellcats aside,I’ve seen many Chargers (I assume they’re Scat Pack variants of some sort) running mid 11.5-11.7’s in the 115-118 mph range. Are these times in line with what you’ve seen? And are those times of stock cars or likely modified in some way? I’ve no idea because I never really paid attention to them other than they are impressive. I mention this because I finally ran up against some sort of hot sounding limo tinted Scat Pack Charger with a manual and we made a run rolling from about 35 and he walked me slowly, from me having a door on him to him gaining a car length. I know he (or she!) wasn’t figuring on an old short bus van giving him a run like that! Just curious what the general times those things are running:)

The normal challengers/chargers with scat packs I've seen and raced were doing around 12.2-12.8...
I would like to think a lot had to do with the rolling start...

I’ve done some 1/4 mile test and tune/ street drags at MXA sanctioned events (Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers and Challengers) a regional Carolina performance entity who runs at “The Rock” a lot. Most of the cars running their events run low to mid 11’s, there are some that run what you mention, but most are @ 12 or less. Gotta think they are modified as that’s what that organization is all about. I know when I’ve run against some there are many that hit 115 and up and are always walking away at the top end. Goal is to rectify that in the coming months with my heads, cam etc makeover planned. I wanna do some walkin’

I would think as heavy as those cars are they suffer on the 60 foot but with an 8 speed transmission and the automatics and even the five or six speeds whatever they are the gearing is pretty worked out... Do you think some of them may have a little bottle of air? LOL...

No telling, but when the track opens I’ll be there next event and pay more attention and do some old fashioned walkin’ and see what’s what! My son said get a bottle but I’m an all motor kinda guy

Most all I have seen (factory) at our track are right at 12, just a bit above and a few just under but all of them are brutally consistent. Keep in mind that is the what I would consider mostly stock rigs. The guys that modify them are quite a bit quicker.

That's pretty much what I've observed too..
Those guys usually run in packs. At least in my area and my home track. A different... culture.
Hard to tell what they've done to them until they pass the 330 cone..
They all sound the same to me.

It's a far cry easier to set a bottle up in a newer car. And you know how it is for the new stuff it's all a complete kit and the ECU resets itself for timing and so forth and extra fuel..
I've never tried it either but that's going to change soon...

For what its worth a buddy has a stock 392 Challenger and its been to the track a few times. The car was slower at first until he got the launch down, its real easy to blow the tires off, even on a sticky pad. He"s been 12.70s and that's probably all its gonna do with stock tires.

FYI
Chargers only come with Auto's
Maybe they stuck a manual in it.

This ^^ if we're talking '15 or newer. Most I've seen in stock trim have gone 12.3 - 12.4's, all depending on traction. I do believe if traction wasn't an issue, 12 flat to 11.7's all day for most. My son has a '15 Scat chally with full Corsa exhaust and the MP CAI. He has raced a lot of 12 second cars from a roll (to avoid spinning) and swallowed them all up.

I assumed, it just sounded like it was the way he dropped down and went but it was noisy in my van with my loud exhaust so...just shows you I’m pretty clueless as I never really looked at the new stuff closely.

The drive by wire throttles are programmed to save on parts (warranty costs) and not snap the head off of the drivers in stop and go traffic. I am sure you could reprogram them though.
Or do they have track modes on the Scat-Pak models?

the 8 speed automatics sound and shift like a manual to your ear

Let's just clarify here what drag racing is and I don't believe it's from a rolling start...
Also an 8-speed automatic transmission is going to have a clear advantage especially when rolling over a 3 speed automatic...

Just raced one at the track and I think you won't have any problem..

Did he have drag radials like you? or factory type tires? To be fair, almost every one I've seen run has run off of a normal radial, not a DOT drag radial.

I was talking about the op...
I have yet to have a challenger or charger with or without drag radials take me at the track yet. Not saying it couldn't happen by a long shot, but it just hasn't happened to me yet...

Not what I asked. I asked if the one you raced had drag radials like you. It's a yes or no question. I'm asking because I remember the time slip you posted, and he ran around 12.6's but like a 112 mph? That shows a lot of wheel spin

I'm good here this isn't about me this is about the Op... LOL... If you're talking about the Challenger that I raced at PIR the one time I drove down there with my wife in the car the Challenger had drag radials 392 scat pack and he said it was chipped... Also generally when I drive the car and especially with my wife I'm very much soft dropping the clutch and not looking for any kind of mind blowing 60 ft time as I'm trying to in my mind not break anything so I can drive my wife back home and hopefully grab a burger on the way... now please back to the op and what he wants to do if you want to continue this we can do our usual song and dance on a different thread...

wasn't about you, trying to see if the chally had drag radials. thanks

I know so you could say a-ha that's why..
I think 12many has an awesome van and as I recall it's even faster than my car so I have no doubt he can handle most challengers and chargers at the track. Again it's hard to road Race somebody at speed that has an 8 speed transmission... Especially against a 3-speed...

here is the difference a driver can make. You can snap the throttle and a quick snap and hold the rpms like pushing in a clutch and dropping it. My son raced another Scat like his the same year, and look how bad he beats it just because of driver.
