what do you guys use on your engine parts to keep them from rusting, when there apart, like a bare block, just back from machine shop ? thanks

For long term storage I use cosmoline. If your getting ready to build the engine just a coat of oil will protect it.

Long term: Grease it & bag it.
Short term: Machine oil. Sometimes straight STP or Wynn's. Sticks & seals good and cleans off easy.

I put a little oil on it, throw a BullFrog Rust Blocker Emitter Shield in a big plastic bag, and wrap it up.

Eastwood has a dry to the touch rust inhibitor rinse. Probably not as long lasting as a light oil film, but won’t attract dust particles either. Bagging would enhance the storage.

Not all auto parts stores carries it, most times it would be found in a home/farm store...well worth the hunt.
