Layson WARNING

I ordered twice from Laysons. The first time I just called, asked if they had what I wanted in stock, and ordered it. I received my purchase 5 days later. Then I started hearing the horror stories. I placed a second order through our friend Rick that's a member and Laysons employee, and had my parts in 5 days......

It seems like it's a roll of the dice, but I'll add this: More people seem to be unhappy as opposed to happy. If Laysons is the only source for what you need, contact Rick when he returns from his medical hiatus.

Joe, well writin.

Have you done a search here on Laysons?

Do you do a search on any forum about a product you want to purchase to find out how the company is doing in the publics opinion?

How many people out there do so?

The 'search' key is one of my favorite functions. Maybe I'm a rare business owner, but I care deeply about the public's opinion and care even more about my customers' opinions so searches are a regular thing.

If even 1% made commentary about PSC similar to the comments in this (and countless other Layson) threads, I'd be too embarrassed to even come out of the corner. But I guess I care more about turning out quality work and helping my customers finish their rides than I do in bringing home boatloads of cash. LOL

I did when I bought parts from FirmFeel - there was concerns about leaking boxes, but the overwhelming feedback was positive, and I talked to them, and bought from them 3 times now.

DemonSizzler comes highly recommended on this site, and no complaints, I have bought from him 2 times. We had a minor problem, and he made it right, and A+ guy.

Bobby at BJR is the same. 1 complaint, LOTS of positive, so I've bought from him.

FBO comes recommended, and I bought from him as well.

I can't speak for others, but I hold the feedback here on vendors as extremely valuable. I wandered onto this thread, and will continue to exercise Caveat Emptor.

Oh, and I doubt I will buy from Laysons...

never searched for laysons here. didn't have to. i knew their rep long ago... i do see rick here trying to help which is good. he should do that at other boards too. the problem is its going to take years and years to get a good rep back after losing it like they have.

i don't necessarily search for a product when i'm ready to buy. i watch numerous board and when people are talking about what i want to do down the road to my car i follow the thread and see what people have good and bad luck with then go from there. thats how i decided on the alrter-k for my car. i decided that was the system i wanted for my car a few years before i ever bought it. its also how i decided on the headlight system i want to put in my car, the converter i ran with my old motor, my steering wheel and god knows what else. i usually plan ahead for my car because i don't have the money to just buy on a whim. and if there is a product that i'm not sure about i'll ask at a few sites that i trust (this being one of them) and see if anyone knows about it.

Jimmy Ray, Joe, with your replies, I see we do things the same way.

Is Rick the Bill Clinton look alike? He kinda looks like the love child of Clinton and Jay Leno.

Leanna, that's why when I decide to have my parts powder coated, you'll be the one I'll send it to. You rock! :supz: By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :hello1:

As for Layson's, I've ordered from them in the past and have always done so through Rick. Rick is an honest fella who won't jerk you around. If he doesn't have what your looking for in stock, he'll tell you. In my book, he's Layson's biggest asset!

I do!

That's for everything that I buy especially parts venders and HP aftermarket companies.

And years back I was warned by many forumns not to use Laysons, I called them once and the cranky old lady that answered was such a b**ch to me I hung up.

Of coarse I don't have the money to gamble on shady compainies but that's just me I guess.

I just walked into there tent (Laysons) it was the first time I had ever dealt with them. Oh of course it behoves everyone to know what part are interchangeable with there projects, but sometimes you have to TRUST someone who is suppose to know, and that is what I am guilty of. laysons is guilty of ripping me off, and believe me that wont happen again to me or my friends or anyone that asks

I have I checked up on Vans and on Dante's both checked out fine, I didnt want to go through the hassle a nd waste my money. Everyone here can vouch Mopars are not cheap, if I wanted cheap I'd go with Chevy. Any way I always want the most bang for my buck and dont mind doing a little recearch before I buy. Just my 2 cents

What is the relationship between Rick and Laysons? Is he an employee? Owner? Just curious why people have said to deal with Rick at laysons? I've heard so many negative things from them, I dought I would deal with them even thru Rick. Someone enlighten me here.

From what I've seen He's a ncie guy but I don't understand how someone like that can work with the owners this long. From what I've seen from Laysons, There must be some tension. THe owners not caring about people but Rick actually trying. Must make for interesting lunchs.\

I have delt with vans and was a great transaction all the way,I feel for rick as he does seem to be working very hard to turn thing's around and has created his own reputation as a good guy to deal with,It' is sad he has to work so hard at it.Keep tryin Rick

the first time i purchased a reproduction part,, it came from year one,,the plymouth letters on my hood and trunk lid,,,the letter M waas the issue,,,
at first i thought it was made incorrectly,,,the mounting pins in the wrong position,,,the letter M was lower then the rest,,after my first meeting with dave layson, i kinda mentioned these parts i bought thru year one were junk,,

dave told me those were his letters,,,he owned the molds,,and sold them to year one,,,then he told me they discoverd 1964/65 baracuda trunk plymouth leters were differnt then 1966,,, only the letter M,,, granted it took almost 2 years to get the correct M,,, but im not sure whos fault it may of been,,a guy at laysons named eric was in that positon then,,and was no where near as good at his job as RICK from laysons is,,,,i know deal only with RICK,, and i have had no unresolved issues,,since,,yes laysons has some parts that cant be gotten any place else,,,and not every person working there knows every detail about every car or part,,,,you should know what your ordering and what fits or doesnt fit,,,

RICK @ laysons is the man to deal with,,,
