Assembled September 23, 1967 so it is a 68 engine. Is there a VIN number on the top of the bellhousing rail on the drivers side?

That stamping in the front of the block is better than any I have ever seen. I think someone forgot the P after the 340. The 2248 is Sat Sep 23 1967 so it's a early 68 car.
