In a year or so, will get a crate motor, nothing too fancy, CM rings, good rod and crank bolts, couple other things- this is NOT going to be a real hot rod motor getting big HP out of it- I am designing it to do two things- reasonable power, stay in tune despite bit altitude changes. With that in mind, I am going to do a super mild turbo build- I have a Neon turbo I will use, shooting from 4psi no higher than 8. This will keep the same pressure at any altitude - kinda what turbos were invented for in the first place. I am seriously considering EFI, but may just stick with a 2bl carb. So the first two parts I want to collect if it is available- the best exhaust manifold for a turbo, and a good 2bl intake manifold. Suggestions?

Any aluminum 4 barrel with an adapter for 2brl. Its lighter, its sized better and you wont have to mod much if at all.
Or.. iron "super 6" 2 brl intake and modify the carb flange by enlarging the 2 holes to match the 2 brl throttle blade size.
Without modifying the iron intake.. its like running a restrictor plate and you will not be using 350 cfm.
Thats based on a holley 350-500 cfm carb. The carters off of 318s can be used but they are calibrated lean in power mode and cruise... 'lean surge' in other words.

OH that's great info- I will go ahead and look for the 4bl, and with the turbo should actually work better I think. I will probably go with an external jet changeable holley. I love the carter's but it is easy to tune a holley with external jets!

found this: https://www.theturboforums.com/threads/turbo-a-slant-six-worth-it.299341/ Interesting because the poster suggests using a 170, which I have.

they're more suited to wind up quick with a short stroke but underneath the turbo they can be pretty soft

I guess CM rings means chrome moly rings? Just so you know, there's no such animal. They are either chrome OR moly.
