What's everybody use for a connecting rod splitter, sometimes called a rod separator or rod departer? I'm not talkin about the really cheap crappola one from ProComp either. Thanks.
I have never used one. I tap the rod bolts with an oak dowel till the cap separates.
Just drill and tap a harbor freight vise, top middle of each jaw or on the side just weld a couple 3/8 bolts with the shoulders sticking out. Electrical tape wrap and yehaw.. you'll have them rods separated faster than Obama's buttcheeks were for the Saudi king. Lol
Interesting tool. Who’s is it and where can you get one from?
Sure, but if you run an engine shop, you’re done and use it the rest of your career. The rest of us have a harder time justifying the effort. But when time is money, the tools pay for themselves.Itd be easy to make that tool but man... you'd have to be using it daily to justify it.
Vue 2 , no name brand on it, have had it for 35+ years.

pro form, $62.00 bucks? I've needed one forever and looks like I might try this one. You would think a guy with a machine/welding shop would just make something. I find it alot easier/cheaper/faster just to buy anymore.

They have terrible reviews. I'll never buy one. I'll either make something, or hold out for the Eagle if I can ever find one.
Did you try eBay?
