I have a few different outlooks on that...
They shouldn't pay the ransom for the computers or it will promote and encourage more of it in the future....
But, by paying the ransom money, they got the pipeline running again, and was probably cheaper to pay the ransom than keeping the pipeline down...
BUUUUTTT.... If they can't protect their critical computer networks properly, they deserve to get hacked... How many times have people's personal information gotten hacked by corporations not protecting their computer networks good enough.... Paying the ransom is their punishment for not protecting their network...

There is an easier way, and don't call us Shirley....
Took the pugs to the beach since I had to go to the base to fill waters. I know it's a pretty low tide when the mussels are showing. Got home and saw something big moving in a tree right off the back deck, it's an Eagle chilling, looking for a meal as neighbor is mowing his back lawn.

Oh, and another point I forgot to mention...
Why not just reformat their hard drives and load the program again... If you have your system backed up, you can reformat the hard drive and reload it all over...
Or replace the hard drive and load the programs to get back up and running....
Driver said the middle axle grenaded and locked up and then the frame buckled

I sent a load of concrete to one of the launch complexes at VAFB. Driver stops the truck in the little security area for inspection. Air Police open the gates for him to continue to the job site, as driver starts to move the power divider in the front diff poops the bed. Truck now dead in the water, not gonna move under it's own power. When it blew up it spilled maybe a gallon of gear oil in their containment area. Air Police calls me on the land line and ranted like I had sent them the Deep Water Horizon oil spill.
They didn't seem too concerned they had a 30 ton barricade in the middle of their containment

Some nights I can hear at least three different packs howling...
I'm next to a forest preserve... We have lots of wild critters around here....
Let's see, a semi frame stretched for 2 hoppers. It probably broke at the splice. You should see how the tow truck builders stretch and reinforce frames.

Doing floor pans in the Valiant over the winter.
Maybe I'll hold on to it. Then just give it to a member here who can use it.
