Am I justified in my frustration?

Maybe the seller doesn't know how long it was outside.

Hey, do all good rebuildable cores come with acorns and seeds inside of a sealed unit? LOL
The guy didn’t even dump out the rat **** before he put the other axle in it!

Can you post pictures of the ring and pinion?

This is between a buyer and seller. The CPW club or its other members has nothing to do with this. Tangling the club into this is not right.

Go-Fish reached out personally to me for contact info cause I had some parts for sale in the sellers spot he bought with his own money. And I personally gave it to him. The seller is a 30+ year close friend of mine.

Go-Fish didn’t ask for the sellers number all day at the show.

And whether a person belongs to an entity like club, workplace, church, etc. doesn’t mean that entity has any bearing or responsibility on a persons private dealings. That’s reaching.

Is the club who put their blood sweat and tears into hosting this (or any) event responsible for ANY buyer to seller swap meet dealings??... NO !!

Steve, go back. Read Post #1. M not blaming your club for ****, Bud. I’m saying he is the one that doesn’t care about reputation. CPW is awesome but there’s a bad apple in every bunch isn’t there.

I guess "rebuidable core" depends on how good a builder you are

Like he said: it’s a 68 to 70 B-body 8 3/4 housing, axles, and case.

You guys are piling on from glass houses.

Steve, if I sold a part that turned out to be a pile I would feel horrible and offer a full refund. I would feel like a total jerk if I sold a rearend and the buyer sent me videos of ******* acorns and rust like that.
Not to mention an axle being maximum stuck! How is it rebuildable if it doesn’t come apart, Steve??
Yes, it’s a B-body rear. WTF does that have to do with it. I was buying it to put in my Duster.

Expecting a full refund is a bit much, IMO. You DO have a b body rear. It CAN be fixed.

I don’t know why it needed mentioning. But it’s done now.

This man is not a bad apple. And has 35+ years contributing and helping others in the Mopar hobby and community. He’s extremely respected.

Just recently he’s put hours and hours helping, educating, and instructing a young guy rebuild a motor with his first mopar. And there’s a line of others over the years.

This is an unfortunate situation with ONE part, a bunch of misunderstanding, and few miscues on both parties. I think the communication got off on a bad start and spiraled out of control.

go-fish said he accepted $100 back from $350 on a part bought at a swap meet in person. Go-fish didn’t take the part back to the seller to inspect or get full exchange refund. Seller just gave him $100 (1/3 off) to finish this issue.

I never did ask the fella for a full refund but I did ask for him to work with me. I stressed to him that I don’t feel he was obligated but there’s a difference between being obligated and doing the right thing. I told him I at least wanted a ring and pinion set. To his credit, he did at least shoot me $100.

And that might be about right IMO. What's a bare housing worth? Carrier? Axles? He's probably about right now.

I understand.

He gave me $100 to shut up.

Hey, since you’re talking to him about this maybe you can find out how long the open rearend was out in the weather? Ask him if he tried to pull the stuck axle. There weren’t any nuts on the backing plate. Maybe he did and couldn’t free it either. That would have been good info to have. You know, if he was an up front kind of guy?
Cat seems to get his tongue when I posed those questions to him, ....multiple times.

im sure he’s going to respond. I’m not speaking for him.

Looks like it's about time to let it go. For $250, you've got plenty of parts. It'll just take some elbow grease to get them to usable condition. Were you misled? Maybe so, but you sure as hell should've done a better job inspecting the parts before dropping the cash. Lesson learned - it's happened to all of us.

So who is he? Kim

I don’t want to say just yet. I’m still pretty pissed and would like to reserve that for when I’m a little calmer. Steve isn’t helping trying to defend this jerk.
If the axle comes loose it won’t be because it’s a good rebuildable core, it’ll be because I put in way more labor and time than should be necessary for a “rebuildable “ core. I’m doubtful the third member will be fine and know the pinion and ring gear are not useable.
I feel like outing this fool but really trying to be reserved. I have no proof he sells shitty parts all the time. This could be one **** up and he’s being prideful and being a condescending jerk and not taking any responsibility. I’m just being a jerk back.
He knows about this thread and that’s enough for me at the moment. Steve Wall has told him about it and I just want to make sure he knows that, while I did accept his $100, it’s not going to make me shut up about it. I’ve got more into this in labor and penetrating fluid than he gave me. And I only have one axle out so far.
