So what's a good radiator flush??
I got a free ford ranger with the aluminum radiator but the cast iron block and the coolant is dark red sludge, prolly the original stuff in there.
I heard somewhere that vinegar will clean that up??

what year? Is it new enough to have the new red coolant or do you have a trans leak in radiator? Demon had that after MITP trip.
I’ve always just used the radiator flush stuff you get at the parts store

Vinegar is a very good cleaner. I use Vinegar and dish soap to clean sinks and showers at home.
Thankfully trans psi is higher than coolant psi, so just ATF in water. Changed radiator and is all good.
Vinegar cleans lots of things. What could it hurt to try.

Nah it's not ATF because it's a rusty red and it's a manual transmission truck so there's no ATF in the radiator anyway

Gunk, heavy duty cooling system flush.
I did use simple green to clean a cooilng system after a cooler failed. That stuff did a fan tastic job!!
Transmission failed 3 months later.
White vinegar. Acidic acid.
And some baking soda.
And some baking soda.
Our track owner has a thing for music events over racing it seems, more $$$ in his pocket I suspect. Just one problem, his neighbors knew they were buying next to a racetrack when they moved in, track was there long before housing. Residents accept race track noise, they have issues with the musical events. Little thing like the concerts don't have to meet the 95 decibel cap as the race cars doand they have no problem letting the county sheriffs know of their dislike.
I used to live 1/2 mile from the Detroit State Fairgrounds...
I could hear the music from my front lawn... If I liked it, I stayed outside and listened... If I didn't, I went inside...

Still sucks though. But that’s one reason I went with a manual radiator in the Polara. That and I put a stand-alone trans cooler in front of it from a 2md Gen Cummins. It oughta stay nice and cool
