I suppose the OP could use that light circuit for illuminating the key, but it would always be ON when the dash lights were on. I always thought the key light was controlled by the time delay relay circuit (yellow with red tracer I think).
But it would only illuminate the key when the parking or headlights were on.I thought about that
My cuda has a key switch light, I changed the ignition switch the other day and had it out...pretty sure it was a orange wire.
Look above your key and see if there is a hole for the light to glow through..
I can take a picture of mine if you want.
Possibly.. mine is a little different that this one
Ignition switch keyhole light is yellow w black stripe. I have redone 2 AO1 light package harnesses. One of which I added to a 67 barracuda which was never offered including the time delay relay and keyhole switch light (had to drill hole for lamp). AO1 includes brown and yellow wires for the map light, yellow with black striped that go from both double spade door switches to the time delay relay and into the keyhole light to trigger the relay when either door is opened. A pink that goes into the glovebox lamp. An additional orange that clips into the ashtray mount housing. My cuda has a key switch light, I changed the ignition switch the other day and had it out...pretty sure it was a orange wire.

They all have the hole. If the option isnt selected it's just left open.Sorry upon further inspection it is a yellow wire. I took a picture of it anyway. The bulb is on a bracket that is sandwiched between the ignition switch and dash housing.
I also took a picture of the hole above the key that the light glows through.
Not sure if all dash housings have the hole or only the one that had this option.
