I was cleaning up the engine bay on my Barracuda and noticed what looked like a signature or some writing on the firewall after I pressure washed it.

It doesn't look to be scratched in the paint but rather possibly a grease pen or something. It is right above the tunnel and what would be right behind or just above the distributor.

It probably has nothing to do with it but was curious if it was due to it being a factory Formula 'S'.

1965 Barracuda Formula 'S'

The firewall to this point has never been repainted but just wondering if anyone has ever seen this before?

All kinds of crazy things go on in vehicle assembly plants. The signage that you found could be anything from a ‘Kilroy was here’ notation to a notification that particular part was reviewed and approved by the signer.
Probably not possible to preserve the signage, but I would keep photos of it with the car history as something interesting.

Thanks for the information. I wasn't 100% on what it might have been but I'm with you, I'll keep the photos as it is interesting. Well at least to me it was interesting.

Found a green grease pencil $ sign drawn on the oil pan of my 07 GT mustang I bought new. Car was special order. Was the $ sign in reference to that? Or was the dude who drew it on there working overtime and making extra money? There were also green grease pencil marks on the suspension bolts. Was he an assembly line inspector? Who knows. Wierd **** happens. Person who wrote their signature on your firewall might be still alive. Who knows

There used to be this Chrysler-Dodge dealer here in Lincoln NE named DeBrown's. The guys that got the new cars ready, or at least one, would scratch a big X on the firewall in the heater hose area. I'm the second owner of a 67 Dart that was sold new there. I wondered what that X was for. I didn't find this out till years later.

I definitely don't have the big 'X', because it didn't come through that dealer.

Maybe this was the mark from the dealer in Reno where this one came from. :D

This one came from Kohlenberg Motors Reno, Nevada.
