1972 and later marker light welts. Talking with my buddy Joel Cooper about the marker light welts that my car came with and we know some Darts had but were curious if any of you know or have seen Dusters or Demons equiped with these. They seem to be uncommon and not something being reproduced maybe thats why. Mine were as you can see a bit cracked from age and since Joel's car and mine were two cars apart on the assembly line and part of the same batch of 5 cars we concluded his should have had them also so Joel found someone to make a small batch of them with his 3D printer.

I like! I'd be interested in a set of 4

edit: or interested in the 3D printer file. I have a printer at work that I could use. What is the filament material that was used?

'72 was the first of many years for those side marker lights (№ 3587 436 amber; № 3587 440 red). The welt you describe is № 3679 121, shown only in the '72 factory parts cattledog, so it appears to have been a victim of penny-shaving.

Those look nice. Another small part that can be duplicated on the 3D. If you want to take orders please start a sale thread.

You'll have to touch base with Joel ( j061093409 ) to see if he still has some sets, I won't bs you because he only had a small number of sets made and this fella's 3D printer took quite a while to make them they were kinda expensive but since my car came with them I had to have them so I was willing to pay the price, I think they were $20 dollars each.

Good information slantsixdan, there was a lot of penny pinching from that point.

I have owned and parted many 72+ cars and never ran across those. Must have only been used a very short time. Maybe early 72 when the sidemarker changed and then they cut them to save on cost.
Was there any sign of a foam seal used with these? Maybe only around the studs?

Cars were not built in VIN sequence, at times higher VIN cars were built earlier than lower VIN cars.

So I asked, any real proof of the claim?

They had the standard foam gasket that they all used,

These were all Y39 special order cars built on the same day in two batches in sequential order for two dealerships, these cars were never suppose to exist so there was very little official information from Chrysler that they built them. My build sheet and vin tag prove they do and discussions with the original sales manager that instagated there creation back that up. You'll have to believe what you will.

Here is the 1972 parts book calling for 4 welt’s - notice only under the “L” body style! I have photos of 2 door, & 4 door darts with build dates throughout 1972!
My 1972 Dart Swinger Canadian Special 340 plus my Parts car had some on them as most parts were stripped as my 72 was found in a snow bank in Winnipeg.
