Valiant convertible driver seat issue

Why does my drivers seat want to flop back into a reclined position? If I flop into the seat too hard or push back too hard, the seat falls backwards.
Is there something amiss with the pin in the center? I tried bending the tab the pin is on, bending the corresponding tab in the seat back, shimming the outside of the seat inwards, etc.
Is something bent, broken or missing? The outer part looks just like the passenger side. Would building up the rub strip help?

I'm going with warn out parts. my 67 Dart has a chunk of plastic that sits on a metal pad on top of the seat cover in the area you have a leather strip? (BTW the strip does not look stock but maybe if it is a 66 and older who knows) That is the stop on my car.

in other words the warn out pivots points and holes are allowing the seat to ride over the Leathers pad/ back of the seat bottom when some pressure is applied. ALSO the inside bottom of the seat back might be broken allowing for movement.
 
What is inside of the seat that may be worn or broken?

I did think about building up that "rub strip". Do you have pics of the plastic on your seat? To possibly give me some ideas?

Red cir... where seat is welded if that weld is broken the seat back bottom could move allowing it to ride over the seat bottom
Blue cir... If the holes are elongated that might give enough shift to ride over the seat bottom

FYI my drivers seat has much more movement in the pivot points than the passenger side does. The drivers side leans back a tad more than the passenger side. I suspect from 55 years and 321,000 miles of use.

still neither side is all that loose.

The seat doesn't feel broken and the holes aren't elongated.
I had some 1/4" (6mm) scrap rubber in the garage. I cut an 8" long by 1" wide strip and added it under the existing rub strip.
The seat already feels much firmer and more secure and even sits up straighter and more square.
I'll see how it works.

I would double that up and see how it feels.

What year are you working on?

Something doesn't feel right about the leather strip and the 2 screws. Seems like the 2 screw heads would damage the underside of the seat back.
 
It's a 1965 Valiant 200 convertible with a bench seat.
This is how it came to me. What I've done has already made a huge difference. I was able to get the screws back in the existing holes.
One thing I may try is building it up a little thicker on the outside.
 
I don't know about the early cars but the 67 seats have a pin that acts as a stop on the outside of the seat. This is a bucket and not a split back bench.

That's definitely not there. I didn't recover the seats, so I'm not sure if there's a place for a pin or not.

The rubber strip helped TREMENDOUSLY.
