Street shock absorber recommendation

I've had 3 way Comp Engineering front shocks in my street car forever and have decided to put something "better" for the actual use of the car which is 90 percent street use. What are people running? I heard good things about Edelbrock shocks but have no idea what brand is best for nose heavy car with slant 6 bars. I'm not carving corners. Anybodies gas shock the same as everyone else's? Monotube? Just looking for advice on where to spend my money. Thanks in advance.
 
I've got DA Vikings in my drag car. Is that my only option for a street car? KYB gas adjust? Self adjusting or do they need to be dialed in or set?
 
I have run cheap Monroe's and Gabriel Gas.
Pep Boys, Advance, maybe Rockauto?
They work well on.the street
 
A daily driver? A big block nose heavy /6 or thin drag bar car shouldn’t be looking to shocks for everyday driving duties. To that end, besides suggesting thicker bars, since that’s what you really need, I’m running Q1A’s no adjustable shocks in my wife’s ‘67 Cúda.
I just removed the skinniest MP drag T bars from the car. No test drive yet with the new bars. But it did work very well with the Q1A’s & the drag bars in there.

Small block 904 car with aluminum heads, intake and headers as weight reduction. I hope this helps some.

Monroe stock hydraulic shocks. Not even gas charged. Rides good.
 
Agree with Rat Bastid.....buy another set of the Vi King shocks and you will be very happy and your wallet won't be hurt too bad.

What is street driving to you? Are you trying to get better handling, or just less wallowing in the corners? What torsion bars do you have?

There are a few good suggestions already posted but it helps to know what you want out of these shocks, your current suspension mods and what your current shocks aren’t doing for you?

I run the CE drag shocks on the street with slant six bars even. But I have a sway bar, upgraded tie rods sleeves, upgraded strut rods and all new bushings.

For stock style handling, go with stock replacements from a trusted brand.

For a firm stock ride go KYB gas-a-just. If I am setting up a daily driver with no racing ambitions in mind this is the shock I personally would choose. Nothing special, just a little stiffer than stock.

For real handling go with QA1 or Bilstein and supporting mods such as bigger T bars, low profile sticky tires and a proper alignment.

For drag racing go with Vikings. The CE shocks you have now wish they were these shocks. But you gotta pay to play $$$.

For a car that sees less than 3,000 miles a year, keep what you got and spend your money elsewhere.
 
I think it's hilarious how when someone asks for a good STREET shock, everyone always recommends race bred stuff. lol
 
Maybe add a little ride height to the front, or take some away depending on what you're trying to achieve. Speed bumps and potholes? Add height. I like a little higher than stock but not much

Well don't let yourself be puzzled too hard because it makes obvious sense....a good double adjustable will give you everything you could hope for in regards to different driving scenarios.

The Vi Kings or any decent double adjustable aren't just for drag racing but as usual on here I suspect a lot of the opinions that get tossed out there are what some think in their minds but have no actual real world experience to back it up.

I don't give a **** about yours either but since I don't talk out my *** just to feel special and have actual experience i'm sure the OP will make an intelligent decision.
 
I must say the slant bars made my car have a much nicer ride. I do have some heavier factory bars but I was hoping there was a better shock than my CEs that are in there. I suppose I could set them at there middle setting but I figuredif I'm going to pull them I may as well put a better street shock in there. I have DA Vikings all around on my race car and I'm sure they would function way better than a non DA shock but I was looking to see if someone says ya a Monroe or a slightly overpressurized KYB. I don't want to spend DA kind of money at this time. I suppose it can wait as winter will be here soon in NE. Gotta take the water out of the radiators shortly. Still have 9 way Ranchos in the back....thank you all.
