I have a 8.75 non posi with a 270 something gear it was great for the highway.
It's complete from drum to drum and has small bolt pattern
If someone knows what it's worth let me know

I have seen 8 3/4 open rears go for $500 complete. Sure Grip with 3.23's up closer to $1000

What does it fit? I have seen them sell from $4-500 for a bare housing to $2000+ for a complete unit with a sure grip and 3.73 gears.

It's in a 70 dart right now and might be factory to it I'm not sure. Would the Vin tell me ?

One thing to take into consideration is that's an open carrier. Sure Grip units start at around $400 bare without bearings. If someone buys that rear end and ads a SG they might have 6 or $700 additional dollars in it just to make it good. Add another couple hundred for a gear change which will be needed for most buyers.

An open 2.7 gear pumpkin is not going to get any money except if it has a 742/489 case. The case is the value there. Maybe $150 on a good day in a good case. Can't give them away out here with a 741 case.

The value is in the brake assemblies if bell drums and they are good and an A body housing. Complete maybe 500-700 (high side of 700 to someone that REALLY needs it).

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is a 489 case as it had the numbers but I'm not sure

Alright thank you to all that helped me figure out what I had just one last question.
Now we know it's a 489 case with bell brakes and it's compete how much would that be worth.

Ballpark $1000-1200 IMHO.
If your car's VIN has a letter H in the fifth position it would be an original 340 car, and likely the original housing and possibly carrier, but I don't think it would have come with a 2.7 gear.

around this time last year i picked up a complete unit with bells, but no shock plates and a 2.76 open 741 case for 750 which i considered an okay deal.

note: that's rust free socal prices.

anyway, 489 cases give some dudes the massive horn and they're willing to part with more cashish on that.

so if all that is there: bells, 489 case, shock plates, e-brake cables and the axles aren't rusted out with mangled seal surfaces and destroyed lugs you're probably somewhere in the neighborhood of a smooth G

Alright thanks. Would it be hard to find someone who'd buy it for that or atleast 750?
