the wifes car needed new brakes, being the good husband i am, i decided to go all out, pads and rotors on all four corners

anyway, i get one of the fronts on and imagine my surprise how thin these new rotors are, i didnt even need to back the calipers out all the way
but then again, i didnt use OEM and i didnt break the bank on them so, i guess thats just the way things are now

then i get to the back, and sunofabiscuit, these new ones are TWICE AS THICK as the stockers

At least you didn't put a pad on backwards.
That's the funniest thing, I started on the passenger front and just slapped the pads on, called it good

(I've done a few of these now, it can become routine)

When I did the driver's front I noticed the hardware for the pads was, well, different

So I had already decided I was going to tear the passenger front back apart to at least inspect the hardware there

Hope you remembered to torque the lugnuts to spec
110 ft pounds

I did something like that once. In 1982 or so I wanted to show-off to my then girlfriend’s father, so I offered to do the brakes on the family wagon (a Mopar of some sort, by coincidence).

Anyone familiar with the little packet of red anti-squeak “goo” that used to come with brake pads? Well, I put it on the friction side of the pads, instead of on the backsides….

Her dad was nice enough about it, but thankfully for me (and my reputation as a young “car guy”), his daughter and I broke-up not so long after.

And as far as I know no one ever heard that I did this!

Until now, that is.

So we are doing confessions now?

I did a trans rebuild on a 4x4 truck and got it all back together and when I turned around to let the lift down I tripped over the converter.

Hey, at least all the needed tools were still on my cart.:D

So on your wife's car the front rotors are way thinner that the rear ones? That's odd. I would think the front ones would need to thicker since the front brakes do most of the braking.

:lol::lol::lol:

For me it's always, This is too easy, till I get to the last one, then all hell breaks loose.
When I find myself saying “this is way to easy” I stop, sit down, think, look at what I’ve done so far. Because engineers just don’t make things that easy. I’ve forgotten something somehow somewhere lol

I call that, "Listening to the little voice in the back of my head".

Which one? I have multiples.
I usually go with the one saying "It's time to have a beer"...
That’s what I used to tell my boys when we were out snowmobiling. Listen to that little voice in back of head he’ll keep you safe. And if you have to stop and scrape your pants out after you get around that corner maybe you should get off the throttle a bit.

It’s been 15 years since my dad passed when I’m in the lab I still hear him in my head.
What kind of lab are we talking here ?

Sure is cool to see he still lives on like that
