Pushrod Length Opinions

-
Oh I almost forgot. The overall stock 225 pushrod length is 9.890", pushrod diameter is 5/16" with a 5/16" ball on one end and 5/16" cup on the other. Adding the "about" .300" the rocker shaft was relocated gets us into the 10.190" range. We'll see how it measures out when the checking tool gets here.

@RustyRatRod , the Comp catalog lists them at 9.830" & a 5/16" dia. (High Energy PR's), the '89 Crane catalog lists their 3/8" Chromemoly as follows in pics, the Ford 240-300ci is 10.203"....but only 5/16" & oil-thru ball&ball.

That's probably right. The pushrod I measured was not one I'm using in the engine, but one that had some good carbon buildup. lol

Got my pushrod checker today. With about 2 threads showing, with no lash, the new pushrods will need to be 10.440". From your posted Comp measurement, that's a .610" difference, which matches up pretty spot on with how many threads are exposed now. I reckon I need to call Smith Brothers. Summit doesn't show anything close that I saw.

Closest thing in the Crane catalog is the '69-'80 Ford 250 w/the 'Shell Lifter', #51679(-12), 10.516" OAL 3/8" tube C1/B1 cup/ball. A bit too long, ring ring, I need Me some custeeyome pushrods pleeze.......

Just be careful with ball & skt prods when comparing length. Different companies have different measuring methods.

Yes sir. I thank you for that. I am going for overall length and plan on making that clear.

Not sure, but I think some want you to put a ball in the skt & measure overall length. Obviously, ball diam would make a difference to the length, so that info would be needed...

They're 5/16" cup and ball. Adjuster too.

Got my pushrods ordered. They are about three weeks out. Will be a tic under $200 with shippin, but not too terrible to get things right. I don't have much money, but I have lots of good credit. LMAO

Are you going to check lift with both lengths of pushrods just for S&G’s?

I can actually do that now with the adjustable pushrod. But yeah, I had planned to. I'm sure I could have left it as is, but it's a huge difference to get it where 1 or two threads show. Over 1/2" and that's a mile for pushrod length. It'll certainly have to help the pushrod angle out. With relocating the rocker shaft, it's the correct thing to do regardless.
