Opinions wanted

Have attached pics showing rear impact damage to 68 Barracuda notchback. I intend to repair the damage myself but before, wanted to get some opinions regarding the process. The process will be simple. Park vehicle between two trees. Secure the front passenger side frame rail to tree and pull dent with come-along using opposite tree in same plane. Does anyone think for any reason this would not work? Any suggestions would be appreciated. At present do not have any quotes from frame shops.

Shadetree mechanics have been doing it for over a century, so I don'r see any issues with doing it that way.

Body Components - Rear Valances

Easiest valance to replace no body work seams are open. And then you'll have dual exhaust cut outs. If it was me I would replace it.

Install a bumper and make sure the end of the rail isn't tweaked first. It would suck after all the work the bumper don't fit right. Unless the bumper didn't get hit.

I would have pulled it with the bumper on first. Many times people would pull off the damaged parts then try to repair the damage left on the car. That's when the price to repair it goes up. Should have gotten it as close as possible while still together.

Looks like the frame rail end may be tweaked a touch and the stabilizer did its typical dirty work.
I think I'd try to pull it back.

If you look closely, the area around the bumper mount is bent inwards. The vertical dent is superficial.

Body guy I am not. Valance has been replaced before. Can still reinstall bumper an pull off that as you suggested. Rail is OK. Thanks for the suggestion.

Will not hurt to try. From the inside it is hard to tell anything is damaged. With the bumper on, it requires a half inch spacer between body and bumper bracket. Mounting holes for bumper bracket are just offset of frame rail as you know. Think I can successfully pull them back out. Thanks for the response.

Use large bolts and washers to spread the load and get a heavy slide hammer. It should come out

I initially tried a slide hammer with no success. This is supporting bumper so is stronger than I initially thought.

porta power: wedge it under the car pump the jack handle a bit done. you could also do it with a small floor jack if you don't have a port a power. or even a bottle jack

Have a porta power but no place to secure opposite end. This is inside trunk.
