@matthon Thanks for taking pictures of Max and I. Sometimes I need to play the Old Guy card and take a nap! And yes the guys in my family are like Beetle Bailey, we can take a nap anywhere! Like I said in the picture post in FBBO it was like having my own show, cars and coffee and cruise night with Max as the only participant! BTW I think I have the car sold.

I want to thank all the members for the shares here, Herb called this morning and said he met one of my friends that said my friend from George Rays Wildcat Dragstrip said to say hello to him, and asked how my sweet 66 valiant is doing ! Got off the phone with him 20 minutes ago, I never ever call him, but when his name pops up on my phone you know I get happy very fast, he thinks his name was Dave or David , wish I knew what member it was so I could thank him.

Herb and I in Victoria heading to lunch together last October.

Very cool indeed

It was a great day, just Tyler Russom the owner and running c the track, Herb and another friend with a radio DJ talking, Tyler asked Herb if he was ready for some lunch, so we all was walking off the track and I asked Tyler was they coming back, Herb says Your going with us because I want a ride in that little hot rod of mine, every jumped in a van, Herb and I jumped in Victoria my 66 sedan and headed to town, he said he loves this little A body, inside looks new, told him it's a stock except the buckets came you of a 66 barracuda, yep it was a blast hearing some great old stories and new things him and his sons are doing, there's a big auction at there place in October I believe, he said just show up and has a bunk house for me, we hit it off, I think it's because we are the same size eye to eye and Tyler introduced me as one of the long time racers her for over 40 years..yep, a dandy day was had. Thank you

I met Herb the first time a very long time ago .
It was back when the Nats were at Indianapolis .
We were staying out near the airport in a hotel .
There was this young man that had a black Dart Sport,,or a Duster,,,can’t remember which .
He had a big block with a set of B1 heads on it,,if I remember correctly .
That was a bad machine for sure ,,he proved it while we were there that night .
After he returned from his late night Joust,(,,and emerged victorious ),,, we were in the parking lot and talking about the thrill of the race .

And who do you think drives up and gets out of his car ,,,,,Mr Herb McCandless .
He was driving his late model car,,,an Imperial ,,,it was a sort of light green color ,,if I remember right . A very unusual color,,,at least in my eyes .

He was a genuine person and was interested in hearing about the race and who all did what .
We all stood and talked about cars and performance stuff for a pretty long while.
That was always a good memory for me,,,,and I think about it every time he is mentioned in any article or here on this site.
I met him a couple of more times as the years went by,,at different car related events after that .
He’s really quite an interesting person and an overall great guy !

Tell him to bring it next year to the Survivor tent.
It's great to see the imperfections from the 'they don't make them like they used to" days.
