I wouldn't call anyone a dick making an offer. If I didn't like the offer, I'd just say no.
You may have more patience or maybe you're not as vindictive as others. I don't know.
Sometimes you can just tell that the "buyer" is an asshole that disrespects everyone that he encounters at a swap meet.
Last Summer I had this young guy come by the house, Persian in nature.
Now, I'm not making this racial but instead,
cultural. In some cultures, the bargaining for goods is a custom and is respected among them. For them, paying the asking price is NOT respected or commonly done.
It is here too to a point but when I set a price for a part that is about what I would pay if I needed it....and the "buyer" offers a fraction of that price, I'm going to be pissed.
THIS guy bought several things from me at a swap meet while he openly admitted that I had stuff priced much lower than others at the meet. He came to the house a week or so later for stuff I didn't bring to the swap meet. I worked him a really fair deal on a bunch of small parts totaling $90, then he saw that I had an original but almost perfect rear seat for a Duster/Dart Sport. This assclown offered $100 for the parts if I included the rear seat.
Really? A seat that would cost you over $500 to duplicate with new skins and this idiot essentially offered ten dollars for it? I was polite but said no.
He called a week later and before he could get three words out, I calmly told him that I won't sell anything to him anymore because he made a completely unreasonable offer that pissed me off. I said goodbye and then blocked his number.
I'll do that to anyone that is dumb enough to make an offer that is just too stupid to consider.
